Yes please.

I really wish that France wasn't in this damn play off crap. Giroud and Sagna could really use a good rest. Especially Giroud.

neither of those players are going anywhere in January.

I think we need to come to grips with the fact that a world class addition isn't happening in January. I think we'll make big signings in the summer, but I can't see why the clubs of any of our big targets would sell midseason.

True. Only reason is terms of their respective contracts and I am way too lazy to bother looking up that information.

neither have a release clause, to my knowledge. generally those clauses have time limitations though and would probably not be effective in January.

also, i don't think we need Gundogan, now that Ramsey has come into his own. Lars Bender, yes please. Gundogan? his arrival would stunt either himself or Rambo IMO. unnecessary big purchase.

Yeah I still feel for this current squad we of course need a 2nd striker. After that looking ahead for future years we would need a replacement for Arteta, because I am uncertain Jack could play that role. I don't know if we would try a double pivot going ahead, or try and get a solid defensive player, with good positioning and instincts, but who has very good passing capabilities. Not your standard pittbull defensive midfielder but someone who can start the buildup.

our u-21s were up 4-0 on Villa's at halftime. goals from gnabry, toral (x2), and frimmy. gnabry with two assists also. it's also afobe's first game back and he's looked sharp. has an assist.

i think Jack can absolutely take over Arteta's role. that's his position. Arsene even said so on twitter this morning!

The only thing I don't like about that is that Jack is best on the turn, to me. Playing that deep lying role almost eliminates that from his game.

I also saw the #AskArsene Q&A on Twitter this morning where the boss talked about that deep lying midfield role being Wilshere's best position.

Given that fact, wouldn't it seem that our best 11 with everyone healthy and available be the following?

Szczesny
Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs
Flamini, Ramsey
Walcott, Ozil, Cazorla
Giroud

Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Wilshere, Podolski, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain

This is why I'm still not too bummed after our result at United. When we get Theo and Podli back for the next game and (hopefully) have more depth going into the month of January, I'm still very excited about the potential of the team and what we can achieve this year.

If we strengthen in December by adding a quality striker, which is all I think we really need, we do have as good a chance as anyone else to win the Premier League title.

The fact that we only lost 1-0 at Old Trafford while only conceding from a set piece and all of the squad selection setbacks we had for the game just shows how much better we are than United with a full-strength squad. Payback will be a b*tch at The Emirates in February!

When you also consider that our next four games in the league after the international break are Southampton (H), Cardiff (A), Hull City (H) and Everton (H), it's a period we really need to take advantage of and rack up some points heading into the back-to-back weekends of Manchester City (A) and Chelsea (H) before Christmas.

We can do this!

seems as though you've misplaced Arteta (who i'd put above Flamini).

besides that, i feel the same.

Yes! Of course, I knew I was going to forget someone. Arteta is definitely in the squad whether on the field or the subs bench.

Again, I think it just goes to how deep we actually are as a squad when everyone is available that I could somehow forget about Arteta, especially with how well he has played in recent games. Bodes very well for us if we get another striker in January to go along with this group of players.

i'm skeptical of us getting a game-changer at CF in January, though there's still 2 months for situations to change. i'm not sure just bringing in any body is worth it. Theo or Poldi could do the trick just as good/better than some sub-standard striker.

I don't think there will be one on the market.

No doubt. Theo making runs with Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey making passes could hold me over with Giroud getting a rest.
