From arseblog

quote:

Despite Wales manager Chris Coleman saying Aaron Ramsey missed the game against Finland with the remnants of a flu virus which laid low a number of Arsenal players, the midfielder says it was a hamstring problem which resulted in his absence.

Speaking on Twitter he said, “Gutted to miss the game yesterday, my hamstring was tight after training. Medical staff didn’t want to risk me.”

However, before you fall over with fear and dismay, he went on to say, “Will be fine for next weekend,” when the Gunners face Southampton in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Germany are resting Mesut Ozil for their game against England on Tuesday night. Coach Joachim Löw said of the former Real Madrid man and teammates Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm, “They are the absolute backbone of our team and, for me, it is more important to give others a chance against such a strong team as England.”
?
It’s good news for Arsenal as Ozil had been looking a bit tired in recent weeks. It means he, along with Laurent Koscielny, will get a good rest before our next game.

Also Szczesny signed a long term deal. I have been harsh on him but he's been great as of late. And at 23 he will only get better. We are going to have a nice core to this team moving on in the future. Now they just need to put the wheels in motion on keeping sagna

the reasoning i read for it made absolutely no sense. Something about needing nuer and lahm to get playing time with the squad. Which is crazy considering ozil doesnt play defense or keeper.

Who cares? So long as Ozil doesn't touch the intl break pitch I am happy.

Mid season intl breaks are the absolute worst.

those two and özil are being rested. he said they're the backbone of the team so he wants to give other players a chance.

oh that makes sense, i must have read it wrong. I thought he was saying that the 2 were the backbone and thats why they are playing and not ozil. As if he wasnt important to the team.

same here. so glad mesut got two weeks off. giroud will be gassed (unless DD starts Benz), but everyone else should be good.

side note: I'm glad DD is an idiot and plays Debuchy over Sagna.

Please sweet Baby Jesus, allow all Gunners to be unscathed in today's action. Thank you for giving Low the foresight to not play your Muslim counterpart against England.

Giroud and Sagna on the bench

i mean, Benz has been turning it on lately for Real, but Giroud was one of France's few bright spots in the first leg.

Is theo healthy enough to play? Are we expecting him to be starting this weekend?

I don't think he is ready. I'm just nervous about all of the players during these breaks.

I'm pretty sure Wales just had the one friendly on Saturday, so none today. But I could be wrong. If that is right, would also means Rambo gets 2 weeks off along with Ozil and Sagna as none would have played during the break.

Looks like we made it through without any knocks.

Need the 3 at home against a very dangerous squad in Southhampton on Saturday.

mirror reporting Ox's injury recovery is taking longer than expected (SHOCKER) so he won't be back until 2014. hope now is that he starts training in mid-December and comes back in Jan/Feb.

slightly unrelated, but I really think Gnabry should start Saturday if Theo isn't back. he hasn't disappointed yet this season in either a starting role or as a substitute. we opens things up so much for us and i think we're going to need that against Southampton who have been well-organized in defense so far this season.
