How much of this should we hang on CPM?

Personally, I thought this team was unfocused and not prepared for the big stage. This team had it all, great pitching, good hitters from top to bottom, and great defense . To go 0-2 in Omaha, with this team, is unacceptable. Thoughts?

Bertman went 0-2 in Omaha with a team that had Todd Walker, Russ Johnson and Brett Laxton.

So what was it then?

Are you saying this team pulled the wool over our eyes for the first 66 games, only to show their true colors in the last 2.

All of it. He's the one paid to be the leader and coach.

His refusal to bunt is nuts. The rest well baseball is weird like that.

It's obvious Les was calling the plays in Omaha lol

The team was trying o hit everything out the park and wouldn't adjust.. Not sure how much of that falls on the coaches and how much on the players. I'd say 50/50

Next to none. I can't think of much I would have done differently.

I don't think people realize how much of a crapshoot the CWS is.

I doubt Bertman would have gone 0-2 with this team. And, by the way, he also has 5 Nat. Titles

If only we had come across a similar situation like losing by one run, Mason Katz on first base, in the top of the ninth with no outs, and Raph Rhymes batting. I'm certain that if that had happened before, and we had a negative outcome, then CPM would have not let Raph swing away.

we had a bad weekend, people who say otherwise don't understand baseball.

There have been many many teams in the history of the CWS who have had amazing seasons and laid an egg in omaha. It happens baseball isn't football, any team can beat any team on an any given day (with maybe the exception of the crappy midweek teams).

LSU got beat by an experience UCLA team, and than by a good UNC team who haven't lost back to back games this season.

This isn't football.

I agree with most of what you said but his refusal to bunt is a bit odd.

he could of.

plus don't compare Skip to CPM

Skip is the one of the greatest if not the greatest coach in college baseball history. CPM is good and probably great but he is no Skip, no one can ever be a skip.

You care to name the pitching rotation for that 1994 team?

Yes, because in football the team with the best regular season in the country would never embarrass themselves in the title game.

maybe we could have used some bunts when we saw how hard it was going to be to just get base hits all day but we need more base stealing. That catcher from UNC was terrible at throwing out runners stealing. we did NOT take advantage of that. other then that CPM is a good coach.

What do you mean by hang? There are some great coaches that didnt even make it to the CWSthis year. PM shouldn't have to feel too bad. And I'm sure he feels bad enough on his own without your sorry arse piling on. He had the best SEC record of any LSU team..and best regular season. The bats went cold in Omaha...deal with it.

CPM is a solid coach. He recruits well, he coaches well and he takes teams to the cws.

Balls flying out of the box were long outs on that big field. And, Begman folded on the big stage.

It happens. The team was solid. I loved smoke, prefer man. Get over it.
