I'm also looking at the echo at Home Depot. I had it in the cart last night but backed out because I wanted to hear some reviews on it.

For the folks that said no on the interchangeable BS I'm just wondering why? My yard is about an 1/8 of an acre and I don't have room to store 4 or 5 different complete setups that I won't use more than twice a year, ( pole saw, brush trimmer) I will use the edger and weed eater weekly.

I am a big fan of buying power equipment form a non big box store. I recently bought an Echo 225 with the ability to switch to other attachments. Price was $300 with the interchangeable heads with an edger attachment also. The weed eater without the interchangeable head was $199. Lifetime warranty on the shaft, 5 years on the motor. If there is a problem bring it on and they fix it. When I bought it they brought it to the back attached whatever was in the box, gassed it up and started it. You don't get that from Home Depot...

I've been very happy with my Echo yard tools that I've had the last 15 years.

My place in TX has a 2 acre yard with lots of landscaping and bushes, and the Echos have held up well, even with laborers using and abusing the tools.

Get a wheeled push type edger. I have a McFarlane about 10+ yrs old and that is the only way to go for edging.

Me too. Makes no sense. Especially for guys with hunting leases. Instead of packing a 10 ft collapsed pole saw, a 6 ft weedeeter, a 6 ft brush trimmer, a full size tiller, and the rest of mg gear on my atv, I carry one power head and 4 attachments which all collapse down to 4 ft pieces. One fuel can with same mixture.

Best part, I can store all the attachments in the garage and just the head and gas can in the shed reducing the gas smell in the garage.

Well shite, thats about the same price as home depot... what size motor do you have? So, to be clear you got the power head, the edger and an interchangeable head for $300?

Yep, don't know if it was a special or not. If you are in Baton Rouge, it came near the corner at Airline and Old Hammond. On Old Hammond, west of Airline across the street from Hammon Air...

I'm not home now but I know it was a 225 but not sure of thr size. It has plenty of power with the professional line feeder. That thing is great and loads line in 20 seconds...

Thanks Wic
I'll look that place up. Will be moving into baton rouge the last weekend of the month and will give them a look. I'd prefer to buy from local dealers as well, just didn't want to drop a shite ton on some tools when I won't have that big of a place to keep up.... but if i could stay around $300 i'd be ok with that.

I went from a curved shaft Echo to a straight shaft Echo. The difference in power was amazing.

I just asked my Dad the name of the place is K&D, they have all the major brands...

yeh, just looked them up. I'll be spending a lot of time on that end of airline for the month of July, have some training stuff for the new job. So will definitely get over to them and take a look. Looks like they are a full line/service dealer too.

I bought a new echo weedeater last week. I flip it over and use it as an edger.

I'm not a fan of a bunch of attachments either but then again I already have most tools. That may be the reason.

how well does that work for you? that has definitely crossed my mind. That being said i'd still need to pick up a blower... Echo has a package that has the weed eater/blower combo for $299.

I have one with just two attachments, a weed-eater and an edger. Saves a little bit of space and $$.

Takes a little bit if practice but most most people would have a hard time being able to tell it wasn't an edger.

Love my commercial McClane I purchased in 94'...the brigs finally gave out about 5 years ago, and I adapted a 6 h.p. Honda commercial motor to it...still going strong and powers through anything...I do finally need to replace the bearing for the front pulley where the blade attaches...

I've got a black and decker comber weed eater/edger. My lawn is small enough that one fully charged battery will edge and trim on one charge. I like it and fits what I need it for perfectly. I do have a gas powered weed eater as well..
