i have been dumping my mower bags for the last year or two in a corner in the back yard, it is more leaves than grass. I took a pitchfork and messed around with it yesterday, but not really sure what to do with it?

Burn it. Or, till it with the ground and make a nice bed for worms or a nice base for a garden. Just sayin.

Wet it down, stir it up and in a few weeks, worm pile.

Make some 3 ft diameter wire bins, 2 of them would be ideal.

Every 2 or 3 weeks turn it with a pitchfork and let it compost.

Makes great dirt for your garden.

Do not put lye on it. It makes perfect compost. Keep it moist, but not wet. Keep turning it to allow air inside. When it breaks down, either use it in a vegetable or flower garden or give it away.

Since you already have one big pile, just create a volcano shaped top to catch water. Throw biodegradable kitchen scraps into the top. Water during droughts, and turn from the bottom and throw onto top. Heat will build up in the interior and enzymes will turn it into natural fertilizer. Put the composted soil into the bottom of your tomato holes. Put tomato scraps into the volcano....

Burn them when the wind will take the smoke to your neighbors house.

THIS EXACTLY!

Only thing I would add to the above is shovel a few scoops of dirt from the ground into your compost pile and spread/mix it about. This will introduce local soil bacteria into your pile.
