Anybody ever heard of EAT restaurant, vacherie restaurant, cafe conti, cafe at the square, and between the bread? Had a guy telling me to try them. Just curious as I had never heard of them.

I've been to Eat several times. I like it better for brunch than for dinner. Very small, quaint and cute spot. Very reasonably priced, especially when you consider that it's BYOB!
I've not been to any of the others.

EAT is mentioned here frequently. I've heard of Vacherie and Between the Bread, but I don't know anything about them or recall when or what I heard about those.

Vacherie is owned by the same guy who owns EAT.
I've only been to EAT, though.
Haven't even heard of the other places.

I agree .. Eat is solid and it is what it is / unpretentious, good food in a more laid back atmosphere. The BYOB is certainly a plus.
also Between The Bread is pretty much just a breakfast or lunch spot. If you're going there you might as well trade up and eat at Back To The Garden down the street.

Between the Bread is a perfectly ordinary deli. If you worked near Lafayette Square, you might eat there. No one is going to cross town to patronize it, though. And I think much better sandwiches exist at the pricing point....

Ok thanks for the info, sounds like I may try EAT next time I'm in the city.

That seems like an odd listing of restaurants. Any particular reason why he was pushing them?
None of them would be in anyone's top 50 in the city list for sure, so I'm curious about why he would promote them.

I know I feel the same way, I think the guy knows the owner or owners. He never said that, but that's what I'm assuming by the way the conversation went.
