I like to try new things and thought I'd see some suggestions on this board. I like to keep the palette from getting familiar (aka desensitized, it happened before and don't want it happening again. Sorry Gevalia - Chocolate Mocha) to a certain flavor, so I bounce back and forth between some different flavors. As of right now I'm bouncing between Community Coffee New Orleans Blend (Chicory) & Folger's Caramel Drizzle (I know, I know. Folger's?). Also try other brands here and there like 8 o'clock Columbian, really surprised by this one. The chicory has been in the cabinet for a while now as one of my go to for different flavor. I'm also big on those flavored coffees (Heresy?).

So what about y'all? Any suggestions?

8 o'clock Colombian and French roast are my go to varieties.

Forced to drink community dark at work, how that stays popular around here is a mystery to me.

I love drinking coffee, and I've tried 100s of brands, but I always come back to the Cafe Special.

I you are ever in Atlanta check out Cafe Intermezzo, GREAT coffee and tons of selection.

It's all about the Brewing Method. I have a French Press, now. and use Generic Dark Roast. It comes out just to my liking.

IMHO, brewing method doesn't matter...coffee freshness does. Anything in a package at the supermarket is too old. Find someone roasting near you. Buy whole beans, not more than a week or two supply at a time. If the beans are fresh, you can brew it thru a sock and it will taste great.

No amount of $$ on a grinder, machine, japanese halogen siphon system, will matter if you are using stale beans.

I like coffee a lot, but flavored not so much. Arabica is good coffee and the base for many blends. If you can swing the bucks, Blue Mountain (Jamaica)is great coffee. Honduran is a nice mild bean, with fruity after flavors. Kenyan and Zimbabwian are good. Colombian dark roast is a bold full flavor bean that is used a lot in Folgers/Maxwellhouse/Community. I like ethopian, sometimes it can have a dusty after taste, as does Sumatran. Kona from Hawaii is tasty.

If there is a fresh market near you, they usually have some flavored blend in the store for you to try a tiny cup. I hardly ever like it.

My preferecne for flavored coffee is a nice cup with a splash of Amaretto, Bailey's, Frangelico or Drambuie.

I disagree. Water Temperature is the Key. Electric Coffee Makers can't achieve proper Temperature.

While it's certainly true that all is already lost if you use stale beans, I can't even imagine making the statement that brewing method doesn't matter. Even so much as changing the temperature within a brewing process will alter flavor significantly.

Royal Cup is horrible, plus it's an Alabama company.
