Did Slive hire Vincent to deflect bias criticism?

This is not aimed at Herb Vincent, who I understand is capable and a good guy. I suspect he had a nice offer.
However, I haven't seen discussion here about whether the current scheduling controversy fostered the SEC to make Herb Assoc. Comm for Communications. The move occurs just before the SEC meeting in Destin, and after the national press seems to give new life to an old, recurring issue. In truth, there's no excuse for the appearances created by giving Alabama such a favorable path to the SECCG.

Naw, Slive knew he needed to bring some class in the SEC offices. Nothing but graduates from the state of Alabama up in that place.

Slive is 72 yrs old, a year or so left on his contract.
If Vincent can take the heat off of him until this time next yr., he's got it made.

in a way, yes. not the overall motivation but he threw LSU a bone. altho it appears to me that bama has way too much sway in the sec offices the other sec teams don't feel that near as much as lsu. my question is where is florida; where is georgia; where is tennessee? these guys need to stand up and frickin tell slive not to put bama first.

LSU is the squeaking wheel, Vincent helps cure that.
As for most of the rest of the SEC, Slive makes them lots of money, so they aren't about to create a fight with him over something as silly and inconsequential as impartiality.
