If you think Mainieri...

would have:
1) Pulled Nola after the 7th when he was dealing
2) Put in McCune & LaMarche in the 9th down a run
3) Pinch hit Alex Edward in the 9th
in a game that mattered, then just wait for football season.
The only bad thing to take away from this game is that Bourgeois is struggling.

All this means to me is I get to see the Tigers tomorrow instead of waiting for Saturday

This. In the grand scheme of things this game didn't matter and I'm happy I get to see them tomorrow. However, I hate losing, especially to Arkansas.

Nola threw 110 pitches. He wasn't exactly dealing which is kind of scary

I'm sure he wanted to get them work and see if they can be counted on when it counts. We all saw how it worked out. Hopefully, for LSU's sake, Nola won't have an off night come tournament time.

Wow, a positive post by guttata in a situation where he would usually be negative...weird

He can probably have an off night against ULL and still pitch a complete game shutout.

Last year left a bad taste in the mouths of this team from top to bottom. They've had their sites set on Omaha this year from the first game, they're right where they want to be and nothing else matters

If Nola's "off nights" continue to be 7 innings of one run ball due to a perfectly executed hit and run in the gap....I think we'll be fine either way.

If this game really meant anything to Paul, of course he would of left Nola in there! What matters is, Tigers still cant hit in a consistent manner. Therefore they may make it to CWS but will still have these 4 or 5 hit games!

top pitching shuts down top hitting. Hell, look at vandy

I understand your point but why not test players we are depending on this year like Bonvillon or Nate Fury ? Lamarche was a "reach" and a "concession" as far as I'm concerned. frick, mcCune was 1 out away from getting out of the inning ! Why frick him all up like that ??

All teams have these type of games. Problem with LSU is that these 4-5 hit games seem to happen when the game means more which is a shame, cause this team is capable of winning it all.

Legit
And don't tell me JJ couldn't play if it were SR

Maineiri threw this game. Not that he didn't want to win, but he didn't really care. You don't pull your ace when he is in a 1-1 battle with an archrival's ace. Nola didn't get beat. Maineiri didn't give him a chance to win it. Taking Nola out ripped the heart out of the Tigers. Why care if you leader doesn't?!!!

And that our bats have gone in the deep freeze. That is what concerns me the most right now.
