Do any other fanbases dislike their broadcaster like LSU's dislikes Hawthorne?

Just wondered. I don't look TOO hard, but I rarely see other fanbases even talk about theirs.

For the record, he doesn't bother me.

You really think LSU dislikes Hawthorne?

I know some reasonable Bama fans who hate Eli Gould.

I meet quite a few LSU fans that complain about him...guess it's just me?

I like Jim. He's a little rough when the Tigers are losing but he truly loves LSU. He's human and he makes mistakes. He deserves to choose when he wants to retire.

It's because their lives are miserable and they don't have nothing else to talk about.

I love listening to JH on the radio. Gotta nice summertime-ball rhythm to his baseball games. Don't care as much for him during football - he is definitely not a homer, like the delusional fanatics that call the Arkie games. Don't know about basketball, never seen or listened to one.

It seems a lot of people here on the Rant don't like him because there is a herd mentality here.

I like JH; his football and basketball broadcast are good to me but I feel like he is a tad hard to listen to during baseball games.

I lived in Houston for a couple of years and can remeber catching the games on WWL and loving Hawthorne then just because it reminded me if home and LSU.

I've been listening to him for many years, but only for baseball even when I'm at the games, because I think he's perfect for baseball

BUT

He can get negative, and actually lays it on pretty thick sometimes.

Really like Hawthorne. I understand he makes mistakes but I'm willing to forego some accuracy for authenticity. He does seem to occasionally trend negative from a P&G perspective, but my guess is that is how he was trained as a broadcaster, i.e., it brings some tension rather than being an all-out homer. He's been part of Tiger lore for about 3 decades now.

Well said. He's been The Voice of the Tigers since I started listening to games on the radio ages ago, and it's comforting to turn it on and hear "our guy" - warts and all.

I'm not sure any fanbase dislikes their own as much as LSU.

He doesn't bother the majority of LSU fans, just select few village idiots that reside here.

I've always loved Jim. Great person and is good at what he does. People don't realize how hard it is to doing play by play. LSU fans bitch about everything.
