I'm a baseball fan more than anything, so this may be biased. But baseball has to be his weakest sport he calls. He can be good at times when the game is slow and there isn't much exciting going on, but when there's a big play or hit, he struggles and is difficult to listen to. And those are the points in the game where detail and flow are the most important. It also doesn't help when, rather than trusting what Jim says, I'm waiting for him to be corrected; he sounds so ignorant so often.
Again, I think this mostly relates to the baseball games.

IMHO hes has stayed way too long and while he seems to be good guy, his knowedge of the games and apparent lack of prep work makes me long for the days he retires...like so many it seems he thinks he is bigger than the instituion he works for

Have always liked Hawthorne. I have heard negativity but I thought it was deserved at the time when they were not playing up to par.

24 posts, no wonder you haven't heard anything negative about Hawthorne.

He's the only idiot that insists on doing all three major sports. A fan base can only take so much of an angry old man.....

FWIW, I enjoy listening to Hawthorne. Do I get frustrated with him at time? Yes, but I've listened to his voice my entire life and I enjoy him

I've always liked him. Although, he can be a semi-nega-tiger at times. He gets negative very quick and then pulls it back. I think that's when you hear fans complain. He's also very opinionated and not always super informed.

Southern Miss's guy does all 3 sports. I'm pretty sure Ole Miss's guy does as well.

Maybe I can sneak my way to posting a game thread during football season.

I like him ... but do get tired of hearing "Ilick Box" and "Ilick" Bregman and "Ilick" Edward, and week-END.
