1954: Ohio State vs. UCLA
1957: Auburn vs. Ohio State
1965: Alabama vs. Michigan State
1970: Nebraska vs. Texas
1974: Oklahoma vs. USC
1990: Colorado vs. Georgia Tech
1991: Miami vs. Washington
1997: Michigan vs. Nebraska
2003: LSU vs. USC

I didn't include Alabama vs. Notre Dame from 1973 because the latter beat the former in the bowl matchup.

Edit: As someone pointed out, USC beat Alabama in 78.

The 1991 Washington team was GOAT type material. They would have beaten the U.

As good as 1997 Michigan defense was, I think Nebraska was a little bit better overall. That said, it didn't help that the Vols helped overinflate the value of that Nebraska team by laying down in the bowl game.

I certainly think we would have smoked USC in 03.

i dont remember anything about colorado or georgia tech but im giving the nod to georgia tech just based on the fact that colorado got 5 downs.

I dont think normal people consider LSU's title a split btw.

USC 2003 team had plenty of stars but LSU played so well as a team and got better every week I think they would beat USC by 7

USC won by 14 at Legion Field that year.

1) Miami easily
2) Nebraska comfortably
3) USC in a good game.

There was a system in place to decide who won, and LSU is the owner of the crystal ball.

for the coaches poll and LSU won that title. The AP did not agree to name the winner of 1 particular game and they named USC champs, it is no less legit than the other splits. Though 1973 is far and away the best split title.

I've only seen these teams:

1990: Colorado vs. Georgia Tech

Colorado. By a lot.

1991: Miami vs. Washington

That UW defense was evil. Flat out evil. And as always in that era, they had a terrific QB (Hobert). As long as the title game is not in Miami, UW wins. but Miami always lost outside of the state of Florida.

1997: Michigan vs. Nebraska

This was charity even at the time. Nebraska was in the midst of the greatest dynasty of my lifetime. Nebraska would've killed them.

2003: LSU vs. USC

People forget that LSU had a top 20 scoring offense to go with the nation's best defense. LSU wins.

There was an LSU professor that broke down the stats of both teams, common opponents, etc. It was incredibly convincing pro-LSU.

I think LSU rolls.

Sure but the AP poll became obsolete (outside of being part of the bcs formula) when the BCS was adopted. Pretty simple. Like I said most normal people get that.

Its basically the equivalent of sagarin picking a different champion. Nobody is stopping him, but also no one cares.
