We have all heard how similar this team may be to the 2011 team. I find more similarities between the 07 offense and the 13 offense potentially.

-Senior QB's backed up by athletic promising freshman QB's.
-Deep and talented receiving corp with a stud Juco guy on the outside.
-Veteran offensive line that is big and physical.
-Slew of running backs
-Potential difference maker at TE.
-New OC

I could see LSU having a great season if the 13 O can recreate the magic of the 07 offensive unit.

At least on paper, the units seem identical.

One thing different between 07 and 13. And it's no on the offense. In 07 we had a Veteran Defense we could count on. All Americans at every level in Dorsey, Highsmith, and Steltz.

With all of our Juniors declaring early, the Defense has question marks. Who knows though, they could be on par or better.

Agreed. Defenses don't even remotely compare. At least not on paper. Offensively though......

I trust Chavis more than Pelini though. That's an edge to 2013 defense. In 07 we would've been undefeated but the defense collapsed, twice.

I see what you're saying and I hope that everything ends up with the same results in the end except that we don't lose our senior QB before the SEC championship, or promising backup a little later and I can do without the stress of losing 2 games and waiting for multiple miracles on the last weekend to get into the championship game. I don't think that I could handle that roller coaster again

The QB backup was a RS Soph. That helped a lot as he made some key contributions. The starting QB was a 5th year senior. The '07 JUCO WR was mush more proven than the incoming JUCO '13 WE. The TE in 2007 was a top player. The '07 offensive team also had some top leadership which was well developed. The '13 team is still developing its leadership.

The skill sets of the players maybe close to the same on both teams but the '13 team needs to develop a lot to be equal to the '07 team.

07's claim to fame was the toughness. They did get pushed around by some offenses, but overall they held together and ultimately turned Todd Beckman into Miles' play toy.

Let's hope they don't end up like the other promising freshman QB

THIS. They were borderline bad toward the end of the year. We weren't very healthy but still.

I don't see a lot of similarities.

2007 stats
BA .256
Runs 278
Hits 472
HR 40
SLG% .379
SO 386
OB% .331

2013 stats
BA .310
Runs 342
Hits 530
HR 36
SLG% .442
SO 239
OB% .395

Obviously this years team is MUCH better offensively than 2007. We are scoring a lot more and are much more disciplined at the plate.

They were stellar when they were all healthy, as they absorbed injuries they definitely got porous as the season went on. I think Chavis willl put out a better D than Pelini.

they gave up 330 runs compared to 139 runs so far this year. I attribute it to our stellar pitching and fld%
