I've heard of hop additions, and hibiscus additions, what are some others to try?

I have an Abita Strawberry in now with some fresh strawberries. Certainly can't hurt the Abita

Fresh grated ginger. Watermelon. Rose hips. Coffee. Green tea. Peppers (seriously). Pineapple.

The possibilities are endless. I've tried a lot. Mix the hibiscus and ginger. :mindblown:

I had an abita jockamo once. I added 12 oz of Heady Topper and it was glorious.

Is your hibiscus dried? I have several around the house I can use when they bloom

It's dried. I buy it by the pound as I use it a lot. One of my favorite things to use. Great by itself, in beer, bourbon, rum, ginger beer, etc. The ones growing around your house likely aren't the right species of hibiscus. You want Hibiscus sabdiriffa var. sabdariffa race ruber. More than likely you have Hibiscus moscheutos. That's the popular species in North America.

Where the hell have I've been!?
I use my press all the time.... never knew I could use it in this way!
just a lil fyi the press will make some pretty good frothed milk

So what type of beers do you use? I see ginger, hibiscus and grapefruit... anything else? Also, how long do you let it sit?

I want to say s14suspense makes a grapefruit IPA. Maybe we can talk him into adding some ginger?

Depends on what your mixing it with.

Also depends, but I find 30-60 minutes good. Some need longer and some shorter.

I'm going to do this. I doubt many people have showed up to a beer festival with a French press, cheese grater, and fresh ginger.
