Would the OB spend it's hard earned money on these sinkers?

If they made a pass through egg style and really were effective in not snagging, then yes. I don't use the style in the picture.

i watched a show where these guys were using them for smallmouth on pea gravel to make a knocking sound, doesn't seem like they'd make a difference down here...i just use lead weights for fun and tungsten when i'm fishing a tourny

limestone average density 2.5 gm/cm3
lead average density 11.43 gm/cm3

so sinkers would need to be on average 4.5 times larger than the size of lead sinkers for same weight.

no thanks.

I think they would hurt my teeth when I crimped them on the line.

I think I will keep using good ole lead on my cane poles.

That's why they don't snag as easily.

I've been known to use nuts as weights before.

We used to go down to Grand Isle for a week every year in July and stay at Bridge side. one year it was unusually windy, so the offshore fishermen couldn't get out everyday. My youngest, Alden, was about 10 and was wide open fishing from the piers and beach. One afternoon I found him and Gary Yamamoto fishing for croakers. Gary showed him how to tie on rocks for a weight.

Lower specific density = higher buoyant forces.

So, while it may be the same amount of weight, it will actually descend a WHOLE LOT SLOWER. Also, if you are fishing current, you'll have more drag keeping it off the bottom, so it may actually find a way to suspend itself. Also, the odd-shaped weights could have some hydrofoil effects. It just seems like a dumb idea to this engineer.

To think for 18 years I lived next to a RR track. One year I got a rock polisher for Christmas. If I'd have only thought to make fishing sinkers instead of keychains.
