LINK

300,00 Wii U units sold since the beginning of the year

I definitely not surprised, but it is pretty dooming to see this so early in the consoles life cycle.

The article also cites a shortage, but I see them available online at Best Buy all the time.

There is no shortage and never has been.

I remember when they came out in november, the guy at Gamestop was telling everyone they won't get any more in until april!

The next day you could them anywhere and online for less then market price.

The PS2 consistently outsold the PS3 during the PS3's infancy...

There was a shortage for about a week, but no such thing since 2013.

Very true but I also think the situation is very different and the targeted audiences are completely different as well.

It seems WiiU is trying to target the more hardcore gamers while releasing a console that will be severely underpowered when compared to the next gen consoles. I think this is where they will run into trouble.

The # of casual gamers that really attributed to the success of the Wii will more than likely not be there this time around.

The ps3 was 500/600 dollars and the ps2 was ~150. That's a bad comparison.

I hope there is a decent surplus of PS4s. I really don't want to do the "stand in line"

WiiU is suffering the 3DS fate currently. Nobody is going to buy a console that doesn't have games.

I'm not sure if it will pick up quite as well as the 3DS did, but once some games start coming out for the WiiU it will start selling better.

man I don't know what the sales mean as far as quality of product for the wiiU, but I played my nephew's for about 30 minutes the other day and that thing is sweet as shite

it's also cool that you can take it in a car and if you have an adapter can play it there. pretty sweet actually

No one seems to have any idea what the Wii U is.

Nintendo shot themselves in the foot with this one. Too many people think it is just a controller add on for the Wii and don't realize it is an entirely new console.

They tried to emphasize the controller and put very little emphasis on the console. Couple that with a very similar name and you get a confused consumer.

They just announced at their investors meeting that they won't be having an E3 presentation this year. Instead they will conduct smaller presentations targeting specific groups such as retailers, the press, and gamers.

This is probably thread worthy, but I'm too lazy to bother with it

The Wii U's problems is games. If they had a slate of releases lined up, i.e., Metroid, Zelda, their future wouldn't look so dim. It doesn't help that so few hold shares within Nintendo either.

Agreed. Things will change for the better this fall when Pikmin 3, Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart 8 and the new 3D Mario come out.

How old are you? 15?

Nintendo isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Sony is still bleeding money and Microsoft is going to find a way to frick shite up with always online or lack of used game playability.
