I might get rid of my 2010 gmc sierra. I am trying to budget approximately 30K. What would you buy new or used for that budget?

Used Honda Accord.
Invest what's left over.
Invest what's left over.

Every 3 years or so I need a truck for one thing and get so annoyed.

That's what friends are for!
And I am right there with you!
ETA: I drive a 2001 Accord and my wife has a 2008 Civic. Getting a push mower home was a chore for us the other day.
With car seats in the back, we ended up having to take it out of the box and break the box down just to get it in the trunk.

That's not very old. Are you needed to tow or haul something that it cannot handle?

i do need a truck, but not a 3/4 ton. It is not old but tired of the frequent trips to the gmc service place for minor items that need to be fixed. it is slowly beginning to fall apart already.
i am thinking of find a good used f150 lariat.

I am partial to F150. However, do not buy a used F150 if your budget is 30k or a little over. You will pay more for a 1 or 2 year old than you will for new. Way too many rebates and markdowns on the new ones. You will get about 8-10k off sticker depending on what trim level and options you select. Used makes more sense on Toyota trucks or other models that do NOT offer the rebates Ford does.
It will be tight getting it under 30k after TT&L if you want crew cab and many bells and whistles. I was looking at a supercab XLT with a very few options that was going to put me right at 30k after TT&L.
If in BR area then go to AllStar Ford in denham's website. Very user friendly and some good deals. They show you the sticker price, savings, rebates, and can even print a window sticker.

My post above was geared more towards an XLT model. If you are wanting Lariat then you definitely have to go used. No way to get it around 30k if new.

A newer model Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. Resale value is great, lasts forever, and saves on gas. One of the better trucks out there IMO.

It isn't often I recommend Dave Ramsey but you will probably be reading his stuff before long anyway, might as well start now.

I'm selling a 2011 Tundra that I've bought new 2.5yrs ago for $5k less that I bought it for. It didn't make sense to keep it getting that much money.
I'm buying a new Sequoia.
Toyota holds its resale

lease
or
Dave Ramsey

What doesn't make sense about keeping it?
