Yes, we picked up Keenan Lewis. BUT, the Saints were clearly trying very hard to add another CB to the roster when they brought in Nnamdi, Tracy Porter, and were linked to others.

They got no one...so does that make it obvious that Rob Ryan and the Saints clearly feel another starting CB is needed?

We've spent all of our time looking at OT and OLB..and even at WR a little, but here hasn't been a lot of discussion on CB.

So...could Xavier Rhodes be the guy we are all overlooking at 15?

Xavier Rhodes Draft Profile

Triplett has commented on it recently:
quote:

That makes Florida State's Xavier Rhodes a very realistic option with the Saints' first-round pick. He's a big, physical corner at 6 feet 2, 210 pounds, and he's projected to go off the board somewhere between the 10th and 20th pick. Washington's Desmond Trufant is also a first-round possibility.

I wouldn't be mad at that. We need some bigger corners.

I'm not saying I'm in favor of it.

I'm just saying the Saints CLEARLY see a major need at CB that a lot of us don't see, and we may all be overlooking that possibility at 15.

And I didn't understand that.
I actually think we're ok at CB.

Safety?
Now, that position needs some attention.

I like Rhodes size for sure, its hard to swallow with the PROB similarities of school and shite though. But I think it'd be a decent pick more so than Teo or Vaccaro or few others.

Well...yeah.

Irrelevant. Only fans think like that. There have been busts at every school.

I don't know if that's an absolute truth. I mean sometimes you see teams liking to go to certain schools with their talents and what not. I think it could work likewise too. Pats like their LSU players example. Maybe FL st has some type of defensive system that makes their corners appear better than what they really are.

That is true, its obvious we're tryin to enhance the secondary, especially the corner position, but if we were to go corner first round, i would try trading back and gain more picks cuz taking a corner or safety at 15 for this year's draft would be futile. I think the talent level is just a lot better at the other positions that were mentioned.

what's funny is there's a fast WR from tennessee we can draft, a fat defensive tackle from georgia we can draft, and a bigger dreaded cornerback from Florida State too. Hmm.... decisions decisions.

Yes, teams might gravitate to certain colleges but they don't think: "Oh no, a Tennessee WR...no thanks."

I've heard Cowherd ask two former GMs that exact question and they both said that was "fan stuff" and rubbish.

Oh the possibilities. We should draft two fat arse DTs, one from Georgia and one from USC.

I think the second UFA CBs looked at were more about value than pressing for need.

He was #13 on our ST Big Board a couple of weeks back. I bumped that for us to update. Don't think he is overlooked.

It is more about value than need. He is a good looking player that would be a fit here. There are just other players that are ranked higher that would seem to be the pick before him.

That said, if it ended up him over a desired OLB or NT, I would say the FO has confidence in the current front 7 and we roll with that.

I think there can be truth to a situation is the same collegiate system keeps producing failures at the same positions, schools may take notice especially a team with a recent bust from them. Say Browns drafted Brady QUinn from ND under weis' system, he sucked, total bust, i don't think the browns would be fondling themselves too much to go get the next qb weis' system produced.

Wouldn't be mad either, but I don't think it's a top priority. Improving front 7 will make the back 4 look much better

Actually touched on this in the WR at 15 thread. I think CB, Safety, and WR are all more likely than OLB unless one is rated way higher than the other positions when we pick.

I like Rhodes, Kiper thinks he is a reach in the first round.
