Almost forgot just how crappy my LCP is (need new suggestions on a CC)

It has been a couple years since I last shot my LCP, and I took it to the range today to make sure it would even fire. It didn't help that I shot a full size .45 along with it, but man that LCP feels fragile....like it's going to simply explode in my hand when I pull the trigger.
So I have been out of the gun loop these last couple years, and am unaware of all the latest & greatest models to come out. I'm looking for something very comparable in size & weight that I can pocket carry......is the LCP still the best thing out? I know one of those .38 S&S Airweights is probably the best thing to carry, but they're too big and bulky from what I remember. I like small pocket carry for most occasions, and haven't ever found a good IWB holster for larger pistols for the clothing that I wear.
Maybe I should just change this into a "What do you CC & with what type of holster/setup do you use" thread

I'm glad you brought this topic to the table. It hasn't been discussed in depth before on this site.

I just got a S&W Bodyguard 380 and love it. You should check this one out. It is a really cool little pocket carry CC pistol. To me it had a more comfortable and robust feel over the LCP. Just my opinion.

Best 380 pocket carry pistol - Kahr P380/CW380. My dad can pocket carry the damn thing in scrubs and it has been very reliable.
And if you're looking for IWB carry, check out my video:

I am a fan of the Kahrs.
I have a p9 which is slightly larger since it has a fullsize handle (still small) but I have been kicking around getting the p380/cw380 also.

Sig p238 or Colt Mustang Pocketlite. I have a Shield and it would take a damn big pocket to fit.
As for other methods of carry, check out Crossbread Supertuck or all the copies out there - Galco Kingtuck, etc.

I don't have an LCP, but I'd say it's pretty representative of the "pocket 380's." If a 38 Special snubbie is too big and bulky for you, then you're pretty much limiting yourself to a pocket carry 380. The Bersa 380 is too big for pocket carry. ALL the pocket 380's are going to be very light and very snappy when shot, excluding the Sig 238/Mustang (but I don't like them for pocket carry due to a number of reasons including the exposed hammer). The Kahr's and others that have been mentioned are good guns, but I don't know that they're going to feel significantly less fragile than your LCP. Sounds like you've got 2 options:
1. Accept the limitations of the 380 pocket guns.
2. Change to a larger gun that will need IWB carry, accepting the limitations of IWB, as well. IWB carry is really not that big of deal w/ the combo of the right gun, clothes, carry belt and holster.

The .380 has a lot of fans on this board. But that doesn't alter the fact that it is a marginal caliber, even with the best of ammo. Its terminal ballistics don't come close to that of a modern 9mm Luger (9x19) cartridge.
The smaller the gun (caliber and physical size) the greater your skills will need to be if you end up having to stop a "determined attacker" (a person under the influence of drugs, mentally ill, gang member, a pitbull, a rottweiler, etc.). I guess this matters only to people who place a reasonably high value on their lives.
If any of the folks recommending .380's have ever actually taken one to a defensive handgun training academy, I'd love to hear about it. Very few of those sites would even allow it, and none that I've attended would recommend a caliber below the 9mm Luger (9x19).
There are plenty of 9mm pistols that are small enough for pocket carry -- which seems to be your preference. Check out the Kahrs -- PM9, CM9 and CW9 models. Or the M&P Shield -- it will work in "larger" pockets, like the CW9.
The Kahrs and M&P's won't be as cheap as the Rugers and Kel-Tecs. This gets back to the value you place on your life.
If you place a really low value on your life, go with the Kel-Tec or Taurus. You may get a good one (not every gun they make is defective).
If you place a high value on your life, get a Glock 19, a decent holster and a decent belt. Then pull your shirttail out, and assuming you've had some decent training, you should be GTG.
Standard interwebz disclaimer: YMMV

Actually, most CC teachers recommend getting a gun you will carry. If you get a 9mm or larger, it has NO stopping power if you deem it too bulky to carry. I have larger caliber guns, but I carry my P380 more than anything else because of it's size. I wear scrubs alot and it doesnt pull my pants down like my 9mm does.
