look up the definition of opinion and that of a fact.

I have no personal bias against you. I don't know you. I am pointing out that what you posted does nothing to advance your thesis.

There were no personal attacks, and people can read that.

You just keep having fun cutting and pasting randomly. Hamlet will pop out one day, I'm sure. I do like Macbeth better, however.

so you do you know that operating income, while a measure of profitability, is not a measure of profit?

It's, rather, a measure of profit from operations. So, when you spend a dollar, does it help you make more than a dollar.

There is more to profit, like interest and taxes, which are EXCLUDED from the operating income calculation per force. Depending on the accounting, depreciation and amortization may have entered in.

Remember the loans mentioned above? Shinn was up to his ears in loans from the NBA and they cut him off. His interest payment killed his profit. That's one reason Chouest upped his stake: Shinn sold a part of the team to him to get over the interest hump.

And that's just the Hornets.

The NBA as a whole lost money because most franchises lost money, not the NBA office.

Again, you can toss out things that are true, but they are not the truths you want them to be.

Show the insults. And you have the facts (from me).

I don't agree with this at all. We had one of the best players of all time for a number of years and the crowds still sucked.

42 - you do realize the Hornets are pretty much the only team in the NBA that has consistently relied on state subsidies to pay their bills right? the state has paid them millions of dollars since day one of arriving here. not like normal teams either. these have been subsidies to pay their basic bills.

there is a good reason why the Hornets sat on the shelf for so long without an owner and why the NBA decided to take them as a charity case (thanks to the Katrina storyline) and buy the team from Shinn so that he wouldn't sell them to an outside investor. when was the last time you saw the NBA do that for another team? (Seattle SuperSonics would like to know the answer to that BTW). no one wanted to invest $300M+ into a team here because the city and the fan base has never proven to be profitable and worth the investment.

thank God for Tom Benson, or else they would have been moved out of NOLA for good.

"The NBA purchased the Hornets from founding owner George Shinn in December 2010 for about $318 million when it appeared Shinn might sell to investors who planned to move the team out of New Orleans."

Are? Funny word choice.

So that OI data you presented was wrong? or what?

And you realize that the subsidies were not present in some of those high attendance seasons, right?

No one wanted them but there were several ownership candidates?

Shinn rebuffed the investors (Ellison) and could not get Chouest to agree. The NBA stepped in.

And you still have not made a connection between attendance and anything that matters.

you are literally too ignorant to move forward in this conversation. if you cannot see the facts as presented then there is nothing else one can do. keep attempting to spin it though.

hopefully you're just trolling though.

Actually, that's the opposite of the truth there.

You say a good deal of opposite things.

hopefully the one or two people who actually think you know something are watching this with a critical eye.

Still no point made, in case you are keeping track. Just false claims about personal attacks . . . and personal attacks.

your entire argument has been about non-factual information. you have been presented with the facts, and now like the inner used car salesman that you are - you are spinning it around. again 42, thanks for the laughs you gave us tonight. oh and keep on skipping a line for every sentence you decide to type out. its a good look for you

Not really

All he's saying is that there is more that goes into operating income than attendance. Certainly good attendance helps, but this team has been terribly unstable on the business side for years. Hopefully the new ownership and rebrand can help us become more stable both financially and fanbase-wise
