I would take it in a heart beat. We could draft smart or burke with the our pick and maybe a glen robinson player at 15-20. Thoughts?

At best you'd get a pick in the 20s from a playoff team looking for guard depth. And considering how many teams have found decent PGs in the back end of the 1st it's possible you couldn't even get a 1st for Vasquez unless you took a bad deal back.

Can't see that happening.

Almost as bad as my Gordon and first rounder for D. Rose.

Why would you trade Vasquez for a pick that's almost certain to never produce as well as Vasquez can?

Don't think the Pelicans could get a top-25 pick for Vasquez.

this statement has so much heated argument potential.

Just going based on draft history. Once you get past the top 10, your chances of getting a player who can put up numbers like Vasquez is extremely small, and probably even smaller in this year's draft.

I'm guessing the point is, once you draft a PG really high, Vasquez needs to be moved since he is no longer needed as a starter. Roberts is a decent back-up, so that isn't a pressing need. Vasquez can bring some value (young prospect?), so should he be moved?

I just don't know a team that really needs a PG, that would give up a 1st. Maybe Utah? They have two 1sts and need a PG. The pick (from the Warriors) would probably be around 21 or so. Bit late for GRIII or Pope. Maybe they could get someone like Franklin though (?)..

I haven't been able to watch the games lately but it sounds like Vasquez is getting time at SF just like Demps supposedly said they'd consider if they got better guard depth in the offseason.

the team I keep going to back to is Indiana. Hill is not a "true" PG.

Augustin is a FA after the year. Makes a little sense because of Vasquez's contract.

I seems like some people don't get that late first round and second round nba draft picks aren't worth shite.

Its why lots of good teams, picking late in the first round, would rather sell those picks off than give some scrub a guaranteed contract.

If Dell wants a late first round pick or second round pick he can offer some conference finals team a couple million dollars and they'd happily give him the pick

Absolutely not. Mid-first round picks hardly ever pan out.

i think everyone is speculating is that with the fifth pick Burke will be the pick - or at least that is what a lot of fans are hoping for.

There are tons of players who are drafted outside of the lottery who are great. I could start naming them if need be

GV has reached his ceiling. He isn't the answer for us. Wouldn't be a terrible gamble.

Brian Roberts has averaged 13/11/3 40% FG, 46% from 3 in his starts this year. Plug and play

Thats fine. But you don't trade your starting PG for a pick and stash player.

Buy the pick, give a future lottery protected pick, whatever.

GV might not be our future PG, but he's way more valuable than a pick and stash we might not see for 2-3 years, if ever.

If gravy was a good starting point guard we should be in playoff contention. He is a ball hog that passes at the end of the shot clock, that why he gets assists. I dont mind him as a backup, but we need to draft a pg or sf in this draft and i think that there are some really good pgs in the draft that you just cant pass on. i doubt gv will be ok as backup
