That's subjective and probably not entirely fair,
Fair and subjective are besides the point. The point is that it is completely and utterly stupid and incorrect. Miles' performance has easily and irrefutably outpaced several of the coaches ranked ahead of him. The fact that some morons (like the author and all who fail to recognize what a retarded dipshit he is) are unaware that talent is a result of coaching in college football does not in any way mitigate that laughable foolishness of this ranking.

there is another huge factor that they are probably weighing heavily, they probably expect a modern coach to be offensively minded. Face it, we have basically had no offense to the point of earning the nickname Les Yards. In addition to higly visible questionable game decisions, they see a one-sided attach (or should i say defense)which recently has failed and become a laughing stock to the announcers. No one is questioning the record but these are constantly in the faces of people who write these articles.

I wonder is the author would be willing to be against Les in games where we play the "better" coaches? Same kind of guy who said Houston Nutt was great coach when he would win about 1 upset a year with or without NFL talent and never sniffed an SEC title.

Saban isn't offensively minded.....his OC is though.

never heard it....very clever

our defense has become a laughing stock to announcers? which announcers? where's all this laughing coming from?

then again....you're the dumbass that said Miles' tenure at LSU has been "one of the most painful coaching careers to watch as a fan in history"...so i'm sure you're not biased or anything.

I haven't even read the thread, but I am going to guess that most of the idiots on this board are probably saying overrated.

Oh God, are you saying that our defense is the laughing stock of announcers? Please say yes so that I know my assumption that you are completely retarded is confirmed.

If anyone needed evidence that this was a hack job, just look to the fact that the author of this didn't even mention WINNING the National Title. How do you write an article about any team in any sport who has won the national title and not even mention it.

The bottom line is the facts were not convenient to his article.

Everything they said was accurate. We are good but the possibility for greatness is achievable and he can not get there.

I meant reliance has been on defense and successfully till recently, the defense is still good but not enough leaving the offense open to being the laughing stock. I have not heard announcers putting down the defense, only the offense.

what has failed is solely relying on defense to get it done.

I don't disagree with this statement, but it is as if he is expecting Miles to win championships every year. If he doesn't, then he is a failure.

Sounds like the writer might be an LSU fan.

What do yall expect from the National media?

Les has made his bed and now he has to lay in it!

Despite his overall record, he's shite the bed too many times with major game management and
coaching decision mistakes on national television.

Yall wanna dig em all up? No need for all that refuse to be removed from the can again.

The perception will continue until he wins another NC and does something of substance to blow past the Red Devils in the S.E.C..

Yeah, that record is a real bitch for you to overcome, huh.

I understand your wishing it wasn't there cause it makes you look silly and petty to be crapping on one of the most successful coaches in the college game for the last 8 yrs.

Why don't you tell us how many coaches of the 120 in FBS football own 5 Top 8 finishes, 7 Top 17 finishes, 6 10 win seasons, 8 bowl trips, and 2 BCSCG appearances since 05.

In the SEC, add in which coaches have 3 west title and 2 SEC titles since 05.

If those kinda results equate to "shite the bed", I for one can only hope to have 8 more yrs of "shite the bed".

TigerPimp ( cool name btw)
U are correct and so is Tiger in ATL
He's not the 7th or the 2nd best coach. And yes he's better than Mark Richt.(I really like Richt he's one of the good guys)but he's no Leslie.
Miles is the best leader in the SEC when u look at the overall picture. championships , loyalty, integrity, graduation, honesty, sanctions, recruiting, hiring his staff and any other job duty u want to look at except game day mgt.
Saban is the better X and O coach and is outstanding at all football related issues. He's the best at that in todays game.IMO
But I want more than this from the HC at my state university.
I will never excuse Saban for all the lying and lack of integrity, when its in his best interest only. Teaching young kids this type of leadership is unacceptable to me and is a much bigger weakness than game day mgt in college athletics.
If LSU hadnt played Bama the last 4 years what would people be saying about CLM? Anybody else wanna trade schedules? Come on down here Ohio St, Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame, USCw come get u some of this.
Show me how much better your coaches are than mine.
Does anyone believe that Ohio St or Notre Dame wouldve been 12-0 last year in the SEC West?
Notre Dame was outclassed in every category including Head Coach in the Bama game. The Bama players were way better prepared for that game. Keep telling yourselves it was just a talent issue. It was a complete arse whipping at every level.

Genius? Nope. But if Les Miles isn't considered elite, then we should stop using the word. I'll say it till the day I die: the truth is in the numbers. And Miles' numbers at the helm are sterling.

The Tigers also had a disappointing 8-5 2008 campaign and are 1-3 in their last four bowl games. There’s no question Miles is a solid coach, but he has plenty of talent at his disposal, and the Tigers have slightly underachieved.

Can't argue with that.
