While they are not the worst fish I've ever eaten, pretty much everything in fresh water is better.

properly handled that is one of the best eating fish that swims..

and the sashimi we make with them is outstanding.


need to come from fairly clean water though...

Pawpaw used to give me the little money he made from selling those things to the help back when I was a kid. They used to love those big brown and yellow spinners. Memories

you must never have been really really hungry.....


and...

actually I had somebody feed me a bunch at fish fry years ago.... and nobody knew they were eating choupique... including troy landry...

the sushi... started with a bet.. but it's damn good...

and at the end of the day... choupique may be the 2nd most expensive seafood in la.... caviar.
