How hard would it be to run ethernet through the wall? I'm looking at literally running it to the opposite side of the wall

I am actually taking on this project next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Bought 1000ft of cat 6, crimper, wall plates, keystone jacks, gigabit switc etc.

Have telephone lines in each room. just gonna pull those up with an ethernet cord attached.

Well the wire plate would be clean enough. You gotta punch/cut a hole at some point. The plate is just to hide the hole. Obviously you can get the wall jacks and wire them cleanly, but it seems a bit pointless if you are just going A to B. And you're still gonna have to make a hole.

I've got wires going all over the place now that I have my new desk up and running. I need to get this shite in order because it's getting on my nerves.

There are outlets on each side of the wall. I wonder what the odds are they line up or are close enough to make it easy.

It may not be that simple. If they came with the house the odds are that they are attached to the studs and you can't simply pull the wire up.

Measure it and see. If I understand you correctly there's a chance they are in the same stud bay. Cut in a one gang hole, put in a low voltage ring and add the plate and jack and you're done.

I'll have to look one day when I have more time. If so I can move my router to a more central location and run a line to the PC. I could also just get a wireless card for PC if i had to.

What is the smallest case that I can use? I just moved into a much smaller apartment and my full fractal design tower is taking up way too much room.

Intel Core i5 3570K
ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Sapphire Radeon HD 7950
ASUS DRW-24B1ST i SCSI CdRom Device
PSU SEASONIC|SS-650AM 650W RT

Without having to get a new mobo, the smallest you can get is an atx, which is a pretty standard sized case

Here's what my new htpc/lan is going to look like...

I5 3470 (from g3258)
Asus H81 itx mobo (from some other rando itx mobo)
8gb ram (stayed the same)
256gb Sandisk SSD (from a 128gb one)
2tb HDD (stayed the same)
Gtx 660 (hopefully upgrading this soon)
Corsair 380t white (from a sg05, I think that's what it was called)

Ended up getting a pretty good deal on everything. I traded a gigabyte z87 ud3h for the CPU, bought the mobo for $50, the SSD for $60, and the case for $85. I'm just happy I found that case because it's much more affordable than the Lian li PC tu200

If I ever get around to selling my damn extra power supply (corsair rm1000) I'll probably upgrade the video card to a 280x or something. I'm only getting like 30-40fps in golf club, but luckily it doesn't make much difference for that game.

I found an SLI profile for the game, implemented with nvidia inspector. So I'm running it in 4K DSR, plus 4x supersampling and in-game AA. Tree settings are both at 200. Getting solid 60fps with 70-75% usage on each card.

It looks pretty great, except the blocky shadows. The shadows kind of ruin the visuals for me. Wish there was a way to tweak them or remove them altogether.

While most will struggle to get Project Cars running at 4K resolution with a smooth frame rate on high settings, the game will also support 12K resolution, Slightly Mad Studios has confirmed. That's great, except 12K monitors don't exist yet. The only way you'll be able to take advantage of the resolution is with three 4K monitors

Man I'm stuck on what to do for a new laptop now. I've been saying for months now that I'm going to wait for the Surface Pro 4 to release and get that but I just fooled around with a 2015 Dell XPS 13 and it's a solid laptop. I have more than enough money to get an i5 XPS 13 right now and it would be put to work immediately but I REALLY want a tablet as well. The main drawbacks for the Surface Pro are that it's top heavy and Chrome apparently runs like dog shite on it.

I'm so conflicted

I really like my Bush Business Furniture desks. I have the 48" corner desk with a 48" extension. They also make the extensions in 36", 60", and 72".

Thanks to you I just spend $400 on a new desk.

That makes me feel better. I just had read/watched some reviews on the SP3 and they said Chrome will run on it but apparently it takes up a lot of power.

Chrome is just a resource heavy browser. Just make sure you get the 8gb ram models and not the 4gb. I had the 4gb one and had no problems, but 8gb is much better long term

Also heard about some issues with colors on the screen when watching youtube and netflix videos. The one i messed around with a month or so ago was pretty solid and the screen looked great but I didn't get on netflix or anything.

My son's first birthday was this week. First kid's 1-year birthday: Big party, lots of guests, grilling, baking, decorations, pile of gifts, etc.

Second kid: Made cupcakes, invited parents, ordered pizza.
