My only problem with massive rail investments are that smart cars may render them obsolete in 15-20 years.

Wut?

Are you referring to the little smart cars of today or some next generation product?

I think he may be referring to automated drive cars since those cars should eliminate traffic by not driving like an Asian woman.

Im talking about self-driving cars. They won't have to stop at red lights, because it'll time intersection approaches so that cars are crossing from all directions in an interleaved manner. It's going to be a huge advancement.

Why use mass transit that is bound to a track, when you can have a transportation pod take you anywhere you want?

Just waiting for those techies in San Fran or Japan to figure it all out for us..

Was just kidding man. More like a tongue in cheek comment. Who wouldn't want their business to be prosperous? Back then I could understand it due to populations being lower but these days you think they could actually make more with passengers than freight right? Sure it would cost some at the start to buy passenger cars or just buy that shite used I'm sure am track could use a little money lol. I know a lot of people from pointe coupee toWBR to EBR to Ascension to St. James and, well I don't know anybody in laplace, but I'm sure some of those folks in St. John would also pay for a trip thats free of DUI'S and their car getting broken into at a lot they just paid 20-40 bucks to park in. Plus the prom kids who usually go out there after prom, I know for me as a parent, would be a lot better than the driving.
