ETA: You could switch the Doors and Floyd. Neither of them were all that influential.

The Doors most influnence is Jim Morrison as the prototypical rockstar with the long hair, leather pants, drug and alcohol diet,etc..

Other than that not much influence. They had a weird band setup with no bassist that never caught on.

Several of those don't belong in the top five. All lists should start with the Beatles, followed closely by Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan. Those three are easily the most influential of the rock era. You can also add Jimi Hendrix to that group.

He never said it was a top five. Obviously Floyd and The Doors would not belong on such a list.

The Byrds were more influential than Hendrix and maybe even Dylan. Their influence is still felt today in the alt.country movement.

Most of the Byrds early success was covering Bob Dylan songs.
