The Titans released Matt Hasselback today, making one one of the worst QB situations in the league even more depressing (he's the only guy who could actually move the offense)... all because they wanted to restructure his $5 million salary for next season.

This isn't the only cheap-skate decision they've made this offseason... the titans didn't franchise TE jared cook b/c of concerns they'd have to pay more due to arbitration (dispute on whether he'd be tagged as a WR or TE). On top of that, Munchak's offseason hiring decisions look like garbage. The possible exception is bringing in gregg williams, but that remains to be seen.

The Owner is an idiot, the coach is a lame duck, and the fanbase appears apathetic... meanwhile, the Texans seem unstoppable and the Colts have andrew luck... is there any hope for the future?

Shouldn't the Raiders still be in this discussion?

Imo, absolutely not, and it's not even close.

Raiders and Bills could possibly be in worse situations... both with old, crappy stadiums, and questionable ownership.

Detroit and Clevaland both have more upside at his point than the Titans, IMO... mainly due to QB situation in Detroit and Head Coach in Cleveland.

The Chicago Cubs have a great fanbase too. That doesn't mean their franchise doesn't suck.

The thing is, the Titans have a pretty good fanbase... but like most fanbases, they need to see some positive movement. I don't believe the Titans have ever had a blackout, but you can definitely see the decline in interest over the last 12 to 24 months.

Look, when you say "Franchise", you have to talk about valuation of the franchise and all of this is done in dollars and cents.

The Titans ranked 19th in the league last season in valuation with a 5% increase over the year (which is on par with most teams in the League).

Until things are projected to be way worse in the next few years, it is ridiculous to put the Titans in this discussion.

you're talking worth... i'm talking football.

No QB... useless owner... bad coaching... apathetic fanbase.
