After reading a lot of feedback (and some complaints) on here about Charcoal, I decided to give it a try on Sunday. There was no wait which was nice and I didn't find the ordering to be as difficult as some has made it out to be. Very similar to Company Burger or Parkway where you order at the front counter. Staff seemed helpfull also.

I got a Bison Burger (cooked medium) with goat cheese, wild boar bacon, and basil aoili. The lady friend got the regular burger (cooked medium) with goat cheese, basil aoili, and roasted red peppers. We also ordered some sweet potato tots.

Being a big burger fan, I liked all the choices of meats, cheeses, condiments, buns, and toppings. The flavor of the burger was good and so was the goat cheese and sauce. The sweet potato tots were very good and unique I thought. Homemade chips were good also.

A few things I didn't like was the size of the burger for the price and the size of the bun in relation to the meat. The burger was probably a 6 oz. burger and the bun was huge and large enough for almost a 10oz burger. I'll post a picture below to show what I'm talking about. Also it was a little overcooked for my liking. I ordered mine medium but it was almost well done (barely any pink at all) and the lady friend ordered hers medium also and it came out as medium-well.

Overall I thought it was good but it could have been a lot better with a bigger burger and cooked a little less. I may give them a try in the future because of the variety of choices they have. To give a reference, I prefer Hi-Hat's burger over this one but I do like larger burgers and would choose this one over Company Burger.

Nice review. Spot on to my experience there with the exception that my burger was cooked properly.

If they ever ask how you want beef, or bison, cooked say RARE. It's NEVER rare, it's generally a bit under medium. If it does come out rare then you're in for a treat, if it comes out well then you just ever order beef from there again.

Good Review.

I had a very similar order. Bison, sweet tots.

I too had no wait.

This is the only thing that really matters to me. This is too many cooking issues for a hamburger place. You shouldn't have to bring in Daniel Boulud to properly cook a burger.

Yep I agree. I'm hoping they realize this because I really like the concept of their place.
