Wanting to fry some shrimp soon. Anyone got a good batter recipe? Doesn't matter how spicy it is either.

Do not use batter to fry shrimp unless you are seeking tempura shrimp. Just equal amounts of AP flour and Zatarains fish fry mix.

Link's recipe in Real Cajun is easy and really good. It's probably online somewhere if you don't have the book.

If you're peeling the shrimp yourself, you should also make shrimp spiders.

They key to gettting them spicy is to season them arse soon as they come out of the grease is thats your thing. Inever put salt in my batter, always sprinkle with salt as soon as I take them out of the pan. Also if you want your dry batter to stick put it in the freezer so it can get cold,

Yep. Get shrimp ice cold in an ice bath. Dredge in your favorite and fry. Louisiana Shrimp Fry is a great product if you don't want to make your own.

ETA: I'd rather the spiders over the meat.

Onion Powder
Garlic Powder
Salt
Pepper
Cap Crunch

Just to be clear, that's not peanut butter or crunch berries...just plain ole Cap'n Crunch?

Louisiana Fish Fry's "Shrimp Fry" is really good if you're just doing shrimp.

I keep it simple. Wet the shrimp, throw it in the Zatarain's and fry. less batter is better.

Use buttermilk to wet then seasoned flour-right when they come out of the oil, hit em with some more seasoning.
