Are people really getting close to 16 in the city and 22 on highway?

Just bought a new 2012 off the lot, wanted the eco, but went with the 5.0 as you get ALOT more rebates. I get 13-14 in city and 18-19 highway so if thats the case than its not that huge of a difference, and you get an extra $3k rebates plus the $1400 eco option.

It seems pretty sporadic. For whatever reason some people get much better mileage than others. The difference between it and the 5.0 is pretty negligible. My 5.0 when it was bone stock got 21 on the highway.

I bought one two weeks ago and immediately leveled it and put 34" tires on it Through 800 miles, my dash says 13.5 which should be off about 7% bc of the speedo being wrong 800 is a crappy sample size and I've been driving it hard, but I think with the tires, hoping for 16 combined might even be reaching on my truck On the forums, the mileage is EXTREMELY sporadic

Also highway doesn't equate to interstate at all, unless you drive 60 on the interstate, I drive 80 Those turbos make her thirsty when they're spooling

The reason that mileage is sporadic on forums is because people don't hand-calculate the mileage. My dad drives 50/50 city/hwy, and gets an average of 17. On the highway going 80 he gets 19. All hand calculated

I have a question about the ecoboost. Do you have to let the turbo on the thing "warm-up"? I've heard that other cars with turbo that they needed to warm up but I really have no idea. Not trying to bash, just curious.

I let my block warm up, but that is because it runs much higher temps than a gas motor. As far as turbos warming up, I haven't heard or can fathom why you would want to do it. You make more power with colder air. Yes, turbos get hot, but not because you want them to.

I have about 10,000 miles on mine now. Got the 4X4 package. Dashboard reads 15.8. I do a mix of driving highway/City/interstate. If I'm going 55-60 driving conservative I'll get 19 or so. The stop and go city driving I'll get around 14. Not all that impressed with the fuel mileage, but I love the truck. Pulls a gooseneck trailer pretty well also

My old Silverado with the small v8 gets 17.8. I've been hand calculating it ever since the fuel gage broke. I was hoping my next truck boule get mid 20s.

From what I've read the Ecoboost gets a lot less "eco" when you add wider/taller tires - supposedly it's more sensitive than a 5.0 with the same changes. The tires probably cause the turbos to spool up sooner than with lighter/skinnier tires. Either way, I'd get the EB every time. I switched from an f150 to a Yukon partly because of the increased fuel economy and it gets the same as my old 5.4 (12/16).
