The grandparent's occupation thread was interesting, and it made me think of where some of them were from.
Both of my grandfathers were from St. Martinville, LA. My paternal grandpaw moved to Morgan City as a young man to work on the railroad. My maternal grandpaw moved to NOLA as a child.
My paternal grandmaw was from Gibson, LA and my maternal grandmaw was born in NOLA, but very little is known about her background as she was ophaned at 12, and raised by her older brothers.

Grandmother-Sicily, Italy she came over when she was a baby how they got to BR, I have no idea.
Grandfather-Bassfield, ms.
Maternal
Both grandparents were from oneonta, New York, a small upstate town. My grandpa got stationed here when he was in the marines.

All my grandparents were born and raised in N. LA. Both sides of my family were in North America before the Revolution. Some crossed over on ships. Some arrived quite a while before that via the Bering Land Bridge.

Powpow born and raised in White Castle, La then moved on to Baton Rouge after school.
Granny grew up on a plantation in West Baton Rouge
Both Maternal, I know nothing about my paternal grandparents as they were long passed before I was born and my father's family sucks so IDGAF
