I guess this is outdoor related so I'll post this here.

Anyone into RC stuff? Before Katrina I was into it big time. Lost everything in Katrina (yall sensing a theme here?)

After K, I bought a Traxxas Revo. Haven't touched it since some time in 2006. Just resurrected it tonight and ran it in the street for a bit. Still got some fine tuning to do but I forgot how fun these things were. My 3 yr old son saw it on the table while I was tinkering with it and he flipped out. He's gonna shite when he sees it running.

I just got into it, I have a redcat caldera. A couple other buddies have them and we make a small track and race. It's pretty fun with other people until you have a head on collision when your both doing 40+. Pieces went everywhere

I've always been interested in those things, what's the cost of a decent setup?

One of my buddies had a 4ft long remote control helicopter. He let me fly it, and two minutes later, I flew it into a tree and got it stuck.

Another buddy had a pretty big remote control plane. I crashed that in 3 minutes and the only thing that was salvageable off of it was the motor.

It is cool until you crash them and they are broken

Had a nitro powered Traxxas truck drove the hell out of it. Been thinking about buying another now that my son is 9 but hell mine did 40mph don't know if he could handle it.

Like anything else it requires maintenance and some know how if you go the nitro powered RC's .

Hard part is finding people with decent shops if something goes wrong and you need some help. Not very many hobby shops around anymore

The technology has exploded in the past couple of years, especially with the batteries and radios. There are great ready to run deals out there that are a blast, but one could certainly go broke with all the aftermarket options available.

That was pretty badass.

I've always wanted a RC boat, but never got one.

Not sure these days but in 2006 the one I got was $350 on ebay. I'm guessing they run $400+ for the "ready to run" models these days.

I still have a nitro buggy I bought about 8 years back.

I tried running it a year or so ago, but couldn't get it to run right. I might try to get it running again now that you brought it up.

I had that thing rigged with a toy parachute to stop it like a drag car

Nitro r/c motors haven't changed much compared to electric. I started out flying airplanes in the late '80's and back then there was pretty much no such thing as an electric plane. Now there just as prominent as nitro, even more so with helicopters. Brushless motors are making a place in the car and truck scene now also. There's some neat stuff out there nowadays.
