good call chad

looked it up

moved down from #99 (Max Jean-Gilles) 9 spots to #108. Got Thomas for that.

Who did that #108 end up being? Jahri Evans

Lots of people here talking about trading back our 1st round pick to get a 2nd round pick. I don't see that happening. There'll be no one at the 15th pick that a team will trade their 1st and 2nd round picks to get. I think the best we can realistically hope for is a 1st and 3rd, and even that will be difficult. I'll be happy just to get any additional picks, even the 7th round, which seems to be our money spot anyway.

I agree with this. The only team that might be in play is the 49ers...they have a ton of draft picks and might consolidate to improve position.

I won't predict it but will recite a little mid 1st Rd history-

2012 Seattle moves up for Bruce Irvin, widely considered a stretch move
2011 Jags move up for Gabbert, widely considered a stretch also
2010 Seattle moves up for Earl Thomas, value move
2009 Bucs trade up to get Josh Freeman
2008 Chiefs trade up for Branden Albert

Thinking on it more there could be none or just one QB gone before #15. Then it starts becoming a question for those teams wanting one of how low ya are willing to go? Cleveland, AZ, Buffalo, NYJ, Oakland etc could all pass with their first picks but not be inclined to try and wait for their second. The #1-3 QBs taken could be perhaps more likely taken from a trade move than not.

Good, but he's not in the category of those other guys. I want QUALITY. Not quantity. A gamechanger. Not just another solid guy.

We've got some decent talent on defense. We need a guy you have to account for like Mingo and Jordan. A guy who can get to the QB. That's what we missed in Dallas last year. We were up by a ton of points and allowed them to march down the field becaue we couldn't get to the QB.

the term is "playmaker" in what we need. A straw that stirs the whole drink. Impact. Just like Graham came in and not just completely took over in his second year- he blew up enough to be voted the #17 best player in the NFL by his peers. THAT kinda impact but on D, specifically a rusher that must be accounted for every play or he'll do some damage.

I keep seeing people make this mistake. You are comparing what we had in the 43 defense to what we are going to have in the 34 defense. We have 2 really good pass rushers who couldn't get on the field enough. How do you know Tez or Junior or both won't be those great pass rushers you are talking about?

He could be, we haven't seen him in the 34 yet. Let's hope

I say trade back a couple of spots and draft Xavier Rhodes.

trade with bengals 15 for 21 and 53

21- Xavier Rhodes CB, FSU

53- Jesse Williams NT, Bama

75- Tyrann Mathieu CB/S, LSU

106- Ryan Otten TE, SJSU

135- Stansly Maponga DE/OLB, TCU

171- Cornelius Washington, ILB, Georgia

If a Galette deal was completed, that's great news. It opens up the Saints to more possibilities at #15 or even a trade down.

Perhaps the Saints might feel the need to grab a tackle like Menelik Watson or a CB like Rhodes.

The only two rumors from Walter Football for the Saints:
quote:

March 3: "We understand both the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints will look hard at defensive backs in the early rounds of the draft." - Tony Pauline

Jan. 27: Sources told Charlie Campbell the Saints don't put much value into the offensive tackle position, so they likely won't pursue someone like Lane Johnson at No. 15 overall.

Take it for what it's worth.

I never expected this to be true honestly. Only way would be if for some incredibly crazy reason Fisher falls. But there's no way.

Golden Gate Sports,s Bay area sports site, says San Frean looking to trade up to land an impact player. Team needs CB,DL,back-up QB and a place kicker. I know you dont draft on needs but ,come on this team does not need much help. So thinking why would they move any further past 15 unless the want Shariff Floyd or Dee Milner. I say they are the perfect team to trade down with.

I think they would be a very good trade partner because I would imagine its a pretty steep price to jump from 31 all the way up to 15.

I dont know what they're other draft spots are due to trades, but just basing it off their current draft picks they would have to give us their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks to move up to our #15 spot.

According to a point system in which they use we could get 31 and 34.

The value chart is relatively static, so if we sent our 1 and 4 (worth 78) for numbers 31 and 34 overall, we would be about 22 points off.

That being said, if they see a guy they really want at 15, they will take the 100 point hit.

Those may be the best 4 guys in the NFL.

Cam got to the qb 8 times in the NFL last year...While being one of the best against the run in the league...in his 2nd year. Mingo and Jordan got the the qb 9.5 times combined...in college. I'd would bet just about anything that neither of those guys sniff the jock of the aforementioned players...especially Mingo.

Yeah, I'm pretty hopeful/excited about Cam this coming season.

I like both players, but I would want the Saints to take Jones or trade back at this point. Unless some amazing player slips to us and we need them, then the idea of picking up 2-3 picks is more appealing to me.
