This make me question how solid I think the FO is on going best pass rusher available with our top pick. It's starting to seem like Payton likes Galette and Wilson as his new OLB's. The only thing I question is how much trust they get being that they were really only situational guys. If he does like them as much as it seems (and only if someone like Jordan Mingo or Jones falls) that trading back might be our best bet to get a 2nd rounder.

I think he's one of the biggest reasons why Payton switched over. He can excel here, everyone else can play in the 43 just fine except him.

If saints are planning a tez and junior combo and resign jermon, more reason why I think we can drop back and add an extra draft pick, we aren't needing an immediate starter

IF the Saints have complete confidence in them to be solid starters in the 3-4, then trading back would be without a doubt our best option. We need plenty of players and we have limited cap space. Might as well get more draft picks.

I think we're going to target some veteran pass rushers for depth and rotation. I can't wait till the 12th. FA and the draft are like Christmas in the Spring for me.

Glad to see this. I dont know if a top 5 pass rusher could come in and start right away. I do think Mingo or Jordan can be very productive. i do agree maybe we go get a Victor Butler or another FA. slide back in the draft and pick up a 2nd rd pick. I think we could get Ogletree in the later rounds. I think the key is Bushrod walking or signing.

Galette was really solid as a pass rusher last year. He even did well when he was asked to cover people last year. Glad he's sticking around.

No way he makes it past the 2nd round. I would love to grab him and a NT with our first and second if we trade back.

Lots of people here talking about trading back our 1st round pick to get a 2nd round pick. I don't see that happening. There'll be no one at the 15th pick that a team will trade their 1st and 2nd round picks to get. I think the best we can realistically hope for is a 1st and 3rd, and even that will be difficult. I'll be happy just to get any additional picks, even the 7th round, which seems to be our money spot anyway.

meant later first round. Poorly written. No he will go first round. I agree though Ogltree and a space eater would be huge.

Doesn't matter. Both of those guys are still questionable and at the very least, you need depth in those positions.

I don't know. I'm having a hard time deciding between trading back it getting a franchise defensive pass rusher in someone like Jones or Mingo

Haven't looked but does anyone remember Loomis ever trading back? They have pointed to NE as the franchise they model after. The trades back and accumulation of draft picks might be the biggest difference between the two teams.

As far as the situation, the draft is an absolutely fluid exercise. Besides there being such diverse opinions on players (Jarvis Jones on your board at all, etc) the amount of trading that goes on tosses all the mockery out the window. I know last year there were more traded draft positions than those that stood pat. Three spots traded twice.

If you have a guy you scored as a Top Ten type player and he's available at 15 you pounce. If no substantial value targets are there you look for suitors and evaluate what range your next tier of targets will be found.

At this point, the only guy I really want the Saints to get is Jones at 15 or trade back.

Saints usually trade up, not back.

I don't want to trade back. We need our DeMarcus Ware. Our J.J. Watt. Our Aldon Smith. Our Terrell Suggs. Not another Cam Jordan. Not another Patrick Robinson. (Although our Sedrick Ellis didn't work out that well.)

Me thinks you missed how good he was looking last year? They are building around Cam this coming year.

But I agree, I want a JJ, Smith or DeMarcus on the Saints as well.
