New Orleans Hornets Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Dell Demps announced today that F/C Jason Smith will miss the remainder of the season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He will have surgery to repair the injury early next week. Details regarding a rehab schedule will be released then.

Smith appeared in 51 games for the Hornets this season, averaging 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 17:10 minutes per game. He is currently ranked third on the team with a 0.490 field goal percentage (167-for-341).

Additionally, Hornets F Anthony Davis (left shoulder sprain) will be OUT for tonight’s contest against the Detroit Pistons. His status is listed as day-to-day.

Smith has been a trooper, playing hurt for awhile now. But I guess he just couldn't do it anymore. It is a big loss for us as he does a lot. I guess Lance Thomas will be playing a lot, and they will be bringing in a 10 day contract.

As Tank Time draws near, time to let Davis get as healthy as he can.

I wonder if little Gordy-poo poo will grace us with his presence tonight

I dunno though, he did play a game a week ago. He doesn't want to strain himself here.

really praying this AD bulking up thing cuts back some of his injuries. I'm sure they're keeping him out more than not because winning doesn't do much for us at this point too. If we were playoff/close to it I'm sure he'd be out there.

tank for... who..HMM!

He's played well. Had to be tough. Torn labrum hurts like hell.

Hopefully he rehabs out of state so we can all start getting laid again.

Good luck to Smith. He toughed it out and played through that injury for a long time.

Yeah, if we're going into tank mode, I won't be watching many games from here on out. I can only take so much of the Xavier Henry/Lance Thomas pain train

They will go visit him. This just gives him more time off to slay the sloots.

We're a bad team, though. We don't have to go into tank mode to lose games, thats happening with or with Smith.
