Domenica Pizza- the second time around

It has been about 2 years since I had a bad experience at the restaurant with soggy, inedible pizza. Went last night after the Hornets game to give the place another try. On the bright side we had cured pork leg that was served with a warm beignet type bread that was very good. For pizza we tried the cotechino which wasn't great. I would say no higher than a 4/10 but at least this time I could eat it.

Wow. I don't know what to tell you.
I think its easily the best pizza in the city, and I've never had someone disagree with me.

Yeah, never had a soggy pizza there. Do you like neapolitan style pizza? They do a pretty good version, although I think ancora does it a bit better.

Anyone is capable of a bad night, but it would be hard to blame you if you had several bad experiences.
Also will make it easier for me to get in.
I agree with other posters, I find it to be a top notch pizza. The few complaints I've heard, tend to come from the "burnt crust" crowd. IE. don't know pizza crowd. I've certainly not experienced the soggy pie. Sorry to hear it.

It's good, but inconsistent. I tend to prefer Ancora over Domenica .. and while not the same style I think Tower is right up there as well. Still haven't tried Sugar Park or Pizza Delicious, which both get a lot of praise from some of my buddies and from the hipster crowd on Yelp.

I think ancora is the best, never had a bad experience there. Plus the dessert with the mascarpone and honey is amazing

Never have had a bad pie at Domenica. R2R - would skip Sugar Park. Pizza Delicious is in the same neighborhood, and is way better.

Pizza Delicious was one of the most underwhelming eating experiences in a long time. It was completely ordinary in every way. I do not get the love. It was a pizza and it was fine but there was nothing special about it in any way whatsoever.

Yeah pizza delicious is pretty good but I'm a big fan of NY Pizza Shop so I probably don't have much credibility with the F&DB pizza crowd.

Great pizza. You can't beat their Friday happy hour special.

I put pizza delicious in the same category as Roma in prairieville and mama Della's in br. It is good but I prefer ancora since it is more authentic.

Nothing wrong with NY Pizza. I really like Pizza Delicious too.
And for Neapolitan style, Ancora > Domenica. I guess some people are luckier than others, because I have had a number of soggy/floppy pizzas from Domenica also.

Im not sure if you're talking about the half priced everything, but if you are, that is 7 days a week 3pm-6pm.

I've had several Neopolitan Pizzas that were a little soggy, especially in the center. Might be because of the high heat and quick cook time in the wood oven doesn't allow the center to get as crisp. I wonder if this is just a normal characteristic of the style. I'm not sure.
I'd really like to try Ancora to see how they do it.

that and I think it depends on the ingredients used on the pizza

This thread is a 4/10
I don't know why people hate on that place. They have very good pizzas and the happy hour 1/2 price drinks in pizzas is one of the better deals I've experienced.

The first pizza I got at Mondo came out pretty greasy. Every time since I've asked the server to ask the chef to leave the pizza in a little bit longer and they've been perfect ever since.

I think also, some places (or some, who may happen to be making the pizzas on certain days at some places) don't understand the need to be judicious on the use of sauce on a Neapolitan style pizza. The sogginess is often the result of being over-sauced.
