What's the F&D board's opinion on this place? And what are some go-to's for it? Someone recommended this to me and thinking about going in a few weeks.

Thanks

They invented BBQ shrimp supposedly but there are much better versions of it in NOLA. The general opinion of the Food Board seems to be that the food is very avg to barely ok.

The boards opinion is its not what it used to be and is now a tourist destination. Raw oysters, BBQ shrimp.

Good oyster bar. THe BBQ shrimp are good, but you can find just as good for much cheaper elsewhere in the city. Overpriced

I go there somewhat regularly, maybe once every other month or so. I enjoy it.

Last time I went was around Christmas for some raw oysters and they were flat out awesome.

I haven't really had any bad meals there. Some dishes left a little to be desired. They normally have a beef tournedo special that is pretty good.

ETA: Other than the oysters, I've never paid for my meals there, so I can't comment on prices.

Surpassed by many other new options in NOLA. Original dishes are often altered and perfected by others. This is the case.
I'd seek alternatives, of which this board has produced plenty.

My last experience there with the BBQ shrimp will likely be just that...my last experience there. They were perfectly cooked, but had zero flavor and a lot of oil. Nothing like they used to be for whatever reason. I didn't eat them after the first two.

The oysters rock, however, were delicious.
