What is the standard on barber tipping. I have switched barbers a few times and finally just gave up and have continued with one guy.
Haircuts getting worse and worse. I have raised the guys tips and they are still garbage and I am running out of options. All these clowns want to do is chat. I don't want to chat. I want a light trim which is not difficult but each time I receive a cross between a high and tight and a Lloyd Christmas style cut. I am not going into the marines, nor am I taking a trip to Aspen.
Getting fed up with it.
Is 4 or 5 bucks on a $20 cut an audacious amount to the point where the barber is giving me a vengeance cut?
Any OT barbers wish to advise?

most of the trashy people here probably don't tip based on the earlier thread.
$3-$5 for me.

What kind of haircut? Is this a legit haircut, i.e. scissors involved. Or one where they ask you your number and proceed to shave your head?
I go to a legit place, straight razor shave in the back, etc. That being said standard cost is $11......I tip $3.......if I get a shave which is $9.......I tip $5 total.

It's a legit place man. Buy is bipolar or something. He uses scissors only some days then whips out the electric trimmer other days. I don't typically micro manage these types of things but I'm beginning to have to tell him each little thing I want done. Not being a diva either. Just want a regular everyday haircut.

I pay $5 on $30. Then again if the person cutting my hair sucked, i'd be finding a new person.

Not that I get haircuts very often.

Depends if they own the shop or not.
If they keep all the money, then no tip. If they have to rent the chair, then they can earn a tip

Place I go is legit, trimmer on the sides, scissors on top, blade on the neck, shoulder massage at the end. They charge $12, I tip $5.

Your problem is that you are going to a barber. When to a barber in HS. He never cut my hair the way I asked, regardless of the tip amount.
Moved to LC, got a woman who cuts my hair now. She cuts my hair the right way everytime for twenty bucks. And I have a white boy hair cut with the part.

Haircut is $35, normally tip $10
Edit: I only get my hair trimmed every other month...

I got a haircut yesterday for $20, and I tipped $5. My hairdresser doesn't keep the tip though, the lady who washes my hair gets it. If that makes a difference.

I have an old school barber. I tip him $8 on two, one for me and one for my kid. Barbers are easy to find. Mrs Cove spent a year looking for the right fig to style her hair though. I think she tips like $25 or some such shite. Then again, her fig does her hair super-duper-fabulously well and I don't have to worry about him hitting on her. Money well spent.
