I like him because of this song:
Frank Ocean on SNL

these are good too:
NSFW Pyramids
Novacane

Honestly, if you don't like Miguel or The Weeknd or Usher, you won't get Frank Ocean.

Doesn't change the fact he is a hell of an artist, though.

surely not evidenced by tonight's performance

His play on words in this song is amazing

even though that video cuts the song in half...recommend the full version

i don't get why he's a fraud. i don't care for his music, but i understand why people do care for it. just because he doesn't meet your taste doesn't mean you can't at least appreciate what he's doing.

I would rather listen to Frank Ocean over any boy band.

Channel Orange is a fantastic album. Frank Ocean is the man! You clearly don't like that kind of music because he is very well respected amongst his peers. I know Pitchfork isn't the end all be all of music critique but they placed it #2 on top albums of 2012. Clearly some people dig it.

I blame auto tune.

Video killed the radio star, auto tune finished off the rest.

Since when is a bad performance indicative of someone's overall talent?

I'm not one of the fanboys pushing Channel Orange as a groundbreaking transcendent album, in fact I'm not even that big of a fan. But he's clearly a talented artist and Bad Religion is an amazingly simple and effective track.

Well sometimes you just have to accept that talent is manipulated in a studio.

Alicia keys being another example. She's had about 100 "off nights" in a row

Very legit. And without youtubing it, I already know that song wouldn't translate well live

My take is only judging by his performance last night, if he's whats great about new artist, music is now crap. But maybe he's a great writer or producer.

What I find off the most is, he's obviously at a lauching pad of his career. He was nominated quite a few times last night, so I'm sure he's already somewhat sucessful. But you get a chance on the national stage where there will be people who've never heard of you and you choose to sing about Forest Gump, and do it badly.

It's like the mighty Casey striking out.
