F150s

Which f150 engine would be best for towing 7000 lbs about 200 miles round trip? Ecoboost or 5.0?

Or is the 5.7 tundra or 6.2 chevy better than both?

The 5.0 F150 will tow that SOB all day long.

I can't speak for the ecoboost.

ETA: the tundra will tow a space shuttle

Both ford engines can tow it...for me the question is how the trucks suspension is going to react to 7K...

Depending on what you are towing and how you have it configured on the trailer air bags or some leaf upgrades may be needed.

Ecoboost with Max Tow package and 3.73 gearing is rated at 11,300lbs towing capacity.

Its all about the type of trailer and the weight distrubition. Just because the truck is rated for it doesn't mean there are not good ways and bad ways to tow that much weight. 7K plus gear plus people weight adds up quick. And since it sounds like he is going to be making a lot of trips a year towing that much weight it might be a good idea to save some wear and tear on his truck by helping out the suspension.

The ecoboost can be rated for whatever they want to rate it for, but its still a half ton truck and its not made for dragging around 11k every week.

You can put a Detroit diesel in it, but the rest of the truck is still not made for pulling alot.

re: F150s

I have the 6.2 with the max tow. I have not towed even close to its max capacity (11,300) but I have zero complaints so far. MPG aint half bad either, for what it is, 12-13 city/17-18 hwy.

Should've got the 3/4 ton gas burner, it gets 14-15 in the city.

Either ecoboost or 5.0. I'd get the ecoboost though. Go watch the video on YouTube.

Still amazes me that after the umteen trailers and half tons I've seen overturned on the side of the road that people still will overload a half ton truck and tow shite they have no business towing
