I plan on graduating in May. I will be putting in for season tickets before March 31st. My dad already has 4 season tickets but I would like to get a few more. Should I go ahead and put in on the waiting list or have my dad put in on the waiting list? Would his points help him get a second set quicker?

Doubtful you will get a call in the first couple years. You need to be in the Top4000 Philanthropic ranking to even get a call....Last year, I don't think they even made it to 3000.

That's fine. Just want to go ahead and get on the list. Would by dad get me a better shot. He's had season tickets since 97

My guess would be yes if he has more points than you. More points= better chance.

New ticket requests and upgrades are based on philanthropic points. If you or your dad don't have a philanthropic point rank lower than about 3500 you have no chance. Even with a lower rank it depends on how many people don't renew. Prospects aren't good.

My advice: have your dad get on the wait list under his Account/taf#.

But also go ahead and start your own TAF acct and begin giving $100+ per year. If there's ever a year where you can give $5000, that would shoot yu up the rankings fairly quick. Just give $100 per year minimum and you'll eventually get yourself in position for a call in 5 or so years.

Also, it is worth pointing out that merely having tickets for a long time does not mean he has a high philanthropic ranking...if he has merely been renewing his season tickets every year and paying the tradition fund associated with the tix (with no separate TAF donations that aren't associated with tickets), then he theoretically may have 0 philanthropic points. In that case, it does him no good to get on the waiting list for u(he would be in no better position than u). The tradition fund associated with tickets does not count toward philanthropic ranking, which is the ranking used to issue new season tickets.

So your first course of action would be to find out what your dads philanthropic ranking is. If its in the top 4000, go through his acct. if its not in the top 4000, just start your own acct, start donating every year, and be patient.

Yeah. He doesn't donate besides the taf fees. I'm guessing being alumni wouldn't help either?

No alumni has nothing to do with it....philanthropic points and philanthropic ranking are based 100% on TAF donations that are not associated with tickets.

Once u get season tickets, every year you'll pay the price of the ticket + required tradition find associated with ticket...that tradition fund associated with the ticket does not count in TAF philanthropic points/ranking (although at that time once you have tix Phil ranking doesn't matter as much as the regular ranking which is used for away game and postseason tickets).

U gotta start somewhere tho, just start giving $100+ a year, you'll be up over 20 points in 5-7 years.

y'all are nuts to donate money to the TAF to get some tickets years later. you can literally walk around the stadium getting tickets for dirt cheap.

it makes no financial sense....

i'm thinking of giving mine up just for that reason.

Some like to help LSU. shite doesn't get built without that money.

It's okay to be cheap. But don't bash those who want better for LSU.

You can get all the "Towson" tickets you want.....but it is complete BS to say you can count on ever getting "cheap" tickets for big games.

Occassionally perhaps, or a friend of a friend .... But just walking around holding up 2 fingers looking for face value or lower tickets to aTm, for example will be a waste of energy.

Check out last year's USC game.It was a night game in Tiger Stadium between #2 USC and #9 LSU.I could not give away a ticket.I am an 11 year TAF member. When I hear about how GREAT our fan base is I remember that night.WE have some great fan and a lot of fair weather band wagon hoppers. In answer to your question, join the TAF college wing now, than stay in the TAF,and do both with your Dad.

Getting season tickets for face value to every LSU home game and giving an extra $100 a year to the program I love makes no financial sense?

You can "walk around the stadium" the rest of your life for infiniti searching for your dirt cheap tickets, that's not my cup of tea. I'd rather have my own tickets, be set for every game for the rest of my life, always pay face value and always have access to postseason and away tickets, and support LSU athletics in the process.

You act like people are handing over truckloads of money to TAF. The vast majority of people are merely give $100 a year to TAF. That's hardly breaking the bank.

what the others post is spot on...fwiw, if I remember right, you can get a student membership in taf for just a few bucks and start accruing points right now....do it, as there will never be a cheaper way to get points...

I'm about to graduate anesthesiology residency and move back home (Beaumont is a lot closer to BR than Nashville). I'm single and am lucky enough to not have any student debt. I'm thinking I may want to go ahead and secure some tickets soon before I find a wife to spend most of my money. How many points does it take to get around the 3000 mark y'all talk about?
