In terms of Southern Rock, agree 100%. Saw them at the Texas Club in '86. Incredible show.

Blackfoot put on one helluva show.

Sorry cool guy I don't even know what that stands for. And I have never heard of any of those groups you named earlier in this thread. Are they even "rated" at all? Where could someone find out about such awesome music? You would think they would be more available since they are so great.

Chicago may be rated lower than they merit

Despite number one albums and singles, I agree with this. I'm a huge Chicago fan (by evidence of the avatar pic) and believe Terry Kath never got the credit he deserved. IMO, the albums Chicago Transit Authority I, Chicago II, III, V, and VIII are stellar. Kath took over on VIII and made it a 'rock' album. At Carnegie Hall is a great live album and it shows how good an axe player Kath was.

I love how these types of topics always bring out the douches.

The problem with Big Star is, they are very highly rated. I would say maybe underappreciated, but they are in almost every influence discussion. Not known by enough people is probably more appropriate.

I would have to say The Connells.

Thats why my mention of them referenced it from a historical context... I agree that to "Music" people, today they are held in the highest regard, but not back when they were active...

I also think that your everyday rock n roll fan doesnt know them... It seems like over the past 20 years or so I am continually turning people on to them, even though, when I hear what their musical tastes are, I am surprised they have never heard of them before...

eta: good call on The Connells... I still listen to Fun and Games quite a bit...

Yes, that's all true.

If you ignore Weird Food and Devastation, which is truely terrible, The Connells have a fantastic body of work. Five very, very good albums. Not sure on the newest one.

POD are a one hit wonder Christian nu rock band from the late 90s. Their big hit is Alive.
