Thinking about getting one for a pet. What does the OB think if this idea? Disaster? I would of course declaw it.

I'll do you one better, my parents just rescued a cat that had previously been declawed and are searching for its owners or looking for a new home, and its got a bobbed tail.

If you are going to go through all that trouble, I would dock the tail as well.

I think it would be badass to watch it jump flatted footed in top of dressers and fridge. Might by mice and let them go in the house and watch him hunt!

Bad idea, they never completely tame down. Also they will bond with person and hate everyone else.

Meh, I came up on a few kittens in the woods when I was 11. Was only able to catch one. Brought him home and my dad and I gave him milk and cat food. I hate cats but it was pretty cool. Once he was older he would go off for several days at a time and come back. Coolest thing I ever saw him do was battle a German Shepard mix and jump about 7 feet off the ground and grab a blue jay out of the air.

He was pretty friendly to regulars at my house. We did not have him de-clawed.

My buddy at school has 5 bobcats for pets (amongst other pets exotic and domestic)... I asked him what it was like, and he said that having them is just like having any other pet, but you have to remember that they are wild animals and it will come out sometimes.

A guy I know has a 13 month old mountain lion. Its huge and likes to play rough, but friendly. Its still more or less a kitten though. Idk how its going to turn out when it matures. It actually does really well on a leash.

That would be the best fed damn cat in North America if I owned it.....

And I wouldn't. I would not want to be confused with dinner.

There are house cats that have the bobbed tail. My daughter has one. Cool looking cat. It looks just like a bobtail cat, but the size of a house cat.

OP, better have the teeth pulled too!

I have an older photo of it on my phone that I'm trying to upload to photobucket right now. Terrible service so I may have to do it this evening after work. It was about 6 or 7 months in the picture.

My pow pow and uncle caught one in a box trap one time.
They handled him with gloves the first few months. once they thought it was tame enough my uncle went to play with it without the gloves and it tore his arse up.

I wish I would have been around to watch the pussy wear his arse out. Powpow said he was scratched all over, never could get unc to tell me the story

Get one of these.

Pet Cat

From their Website
quote:

Mokave Jag Cats originated from a blend of bobcat, Jungle Cat and Asian Leopard Cat genes. Each hybrid generation was carefully bred to ensure a pet-like temperament while retaining as much of the wild look, size, and intelligence as possible. For more than a decade I observed and selected one or two kittens out of each litter that best represented the gene type necessary to enhance this extremely rare Jag Cat breed.

My mothers neighbor had a female cat get bred by a bobcat. She got one of the kittens and it was mean as hell.
