So the story says they had "exploratory" discussions about bringing him in but the fact they even explored it just shows how dire the QB situation is out there haha man for JR's sake I hope he does get a shot but idk if he would do well in that situation with the jets.

quote:

More recently, after Tannenbaum was let go, members of the organization had some very exploratory, informal discussions regarding former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the 2007 No. 1 overall pick who flamed out of the NFL after the 2009 season. Russell recently decided to mount a comeback in hopes of returning to the league next season.

this isn't the first time they supposedly had interest in him. apparently Rob Ryan had recommended him to Rex a few yrs back, after Rob had seen him as the Raiders DC. I think that all kinda broke down with the codeine thing though.

Can't be any worse than what they have. I know JR would never get laid out by running into an O-lineman, he would truck that fool.

I hope JR gets interest from other teams. I think his best shot would be in a smaller market area where he will not have millions of eyes following him around waiting for him to screw up. If NY is the only team with interest, best of luck to him, but I don't think he will succeed there.

round. seriously. when this comeback thing first got reported last week, it was said that dude was still 305ish (though down from 320). I still don't think he "gets it", though I want him to and wanna see him play again.

Why wouldn't any team needing a qb try him out? Hell any team needing a backup should bring him in. Just give him limited money and a crazy harsh contract in regards to his workethic etc. He may be truly changed

I doubt J-rock could pass any team's conditioning test to start spring training. I'm sure he can still throw it through a brick wall, but in this day and age you better be able to read defenses and move a bit in the pocket...

He would have to get down to 270 to even have a prayer and that is 35 pounds for him right now.

He can lose 150 pounds, but he still can't read defenses. What a jole.
