That was one of the few things I enjoyed about Pro-Bowl weekend. What year did they stop doing this?

Idk but I think I liked watching that more than the actual pro bowl

If I had to guess it was when New England's RB ended his career in ESPN's Beach Football game. I agree it was the best part of the weekend. Especially the QB challenge.

If they do, they sure don't air it on tv like they use to.

Yep, Skills competitions occurred through 2007 when the New England guy was injured in 98 or 99

As it turns out, the Skills Competition was last held in 2007. According to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, a “[c]ombination of factors led us to discontinue, including logistics such as the field we conducted it on at the players’ hotel no longer exists.” (Aiello explained that the hotel has taken the field back for other uses.)
The league last conducted a rookie flag football game on the beach in Hawaii in 1999. That was the year Patriots running back Robert Andrews Edwards shredded his knee so badly that, at one point, amputation of his foot was a possibility.

That sounds like such a bullshite answer. You're telling me a billion dollar industry couldn't figure out the "logistics" for something so simple.

My bad, was just going off top of my head.

Watched the skills challenge of 06 the other night on NFL Network. Wish they would have one every year, because it acts as a time capsule. Sean Taylor participated. Hit me right in the feels.

Directv is playing a beach football game at Mardi Gras World. Pretty sure they could find a venue.

The skills competitions were so much fun to watch.
