A Danny Granger deal might make a lot of sense for this team.

According to Chad Ford, he's on the block and the Pacers want a young big man and/or a point guard in return.

We don't really have any salaries that match, other than EG (which works straight up) or Ryno/Aminu/Passquez (which I would rather not do).

So... while he may not be worth our lottery pick, but maybe he is in this draft. That would give Indiana a massive trade exception that they could turn around and use to bolster their team.

Also, Granger being injured means the team won't get immediately better, so Indiana may feel confident that our pick will still be a good one.

The plus side being that he only has 2 years left on his deal... so if he has nothing left in the tank, we're only on the hook for his $13 million for one more season after this one, and it's an expiring which is worth something at trade time.

Maybe we could swap picks with Indiana as part of the deal so we could keep a late 1st rounder to keep developing the team.

We have a massive hole at SF?

The draft doesn't look great?

This team can win next season?

I would note that the fact that he's from NOLA doesn't matter at all to me--but if Indiana calls and says they'll swap picks for us to take his 13m you'd have to at least think about it.

Yeah, I just don't think he is a good fit for this team. It's too much money for an older guy with health issues. It's too big of a risk..

Besides this team needs more speed in the backcourt. I know the idea was brushed aside, but I like Vasquez playing the 3 or as a point-forward type of position. Thompson played a ton of it last night and Vasquez is pretty much the same size. That would let the team add a quicker pg, which is what they need. GS backcourt killed the Hornets last night..

How about Lopez/Henry/Rivers for Granger?

You think Lopez Henry and rivers is enough? Hard to see Monty trading Rivers too.

I think the trade makes sense if we would like a vet offensive player no where near the peak of his value.

Agreed.

Probably cost more than what he is worth to acquire him, too.

How does filling up a hole at SF by creating another hole at C help us at all?

I know this board has had a huge boner for Granger for years now, but he's getting old, his numbers have been going down every year for like 4 years now, and he's hurt all the time. And he's got a huge contract that he isn't worth.

I'd rather someone like Chandler Parsons or Wilson Chandler than Granger, honestly.

His PPG has dropped as his team has gotten better and the need for him to score decreased. He isn't really old and he is as injury prone as any other nba player. He missed 2 games in 2 years previous to this years injury

Yea, that and his rpg, apg, spg, bpg, and his fg% have all dropped too.

And he's 30 with a bum knee and 14 million dollar contract.

But whatever, I know this boards infatuation with him, so this will all fall on deaf ears.

I'm not infatuated with him, just interested in trying to get the best value and make the team better.

There you go being a bitch arse again. Have you seen the responses? No ones infatuated with him, well not all. Emotional trolling.

Ehh, people need to lighten up on this board... Shockingly, you may not know everything there is to know about the NBA

It's discussion. Sometimes the ideas aren't the greatest. Deal with the butthurt.
