It seems that I heard good things about Restaurant IPO when they first opened, but haven't heard much about it since. I thought about giving one of the EatBR deals a shot tonight, but I'm not really starving and it seems like sharing a few tapas is more or what I'm looking for. Any of ya'll been to Restaurant IPO? Thoughts?

Ate at IPO last night, was very impressed.

All of the tapas plates were good, especially liked the scallops, mussels, and the tacos.

I had the shrimp and grits and there were some of the best I've had in a long time. Also had the truffle oil spaghetti to split with the girlfriend and it was very well done.

As an added bonus they have a nice selection of LA craft beer on tap, had a few Irish Channel Stouts with the meal.

The ambiance was nice too, I really like the interior design of the place.

I certainly plan on being back.

The atmosphere was good, waitstaff was friendly, food was a 7/10, cocktails were 5/10.

I had the filet with truffled mashed potatoes and asparagus. Ordered the steak MR but came out Medium Well. Although it was over-cooked, it was still pretty tasty.

Also had a Maker's Old Fashioned. They were out of orange slices and made the drink with an orange liqueur. Turned out pretty bad.

I would go back and give them another shot though. It seems like the place has potential.

How many small plates would it take to fill up to two people moderate appetites?

I plan on going tonight.

Jones and I always can't finish our food. Depending on what you get, 3 can fill you up together. We're not heavy eaters so if you are, I guess 4.

My favorite tapas are the heavy ones so we never need more than 3. (Grits and Grillades, stuffed portabella, and scallops)

I could eat the grits and Grillades as an entree alone

Sounds like 3 would suffice. I'll probably have a couple craft beers, which can be a little filling.

How are the side dishes, soups, and side salads?

Any of those worth trying?
