Right off the top of my head is Ty Cobb. Dude was a mean cuss.

Eh, it isn't a great story but I've seen him in a private setting three times and he was a dick to people he had no need to be a dick towards.

Baseball definitly that history with te game being old as dirt. Bill romanowski would be up there for football. Mk for basketball.

Barry Bonds seemed to be eternally malcontented.
Most accounts I've heard from players is that Michael Jordan was a huge jerk. His own teammates hated him.

Ty Cobb has to be up there, he would do anything it took to reach a base and his attacked a disabled man who heckled him with slurs. I will say that many of the negative things associated with Cobb came from the Al Stump's ghost written autobiography, released after Cobb's death, which made Cobb look worse than he actually was. Ted Williams pretty much called Stump a liar when referring to an incident between Cobb and Williams.

Still Cobb was a mean SOB and in today's game players wouldn't put up with his dirty play.
Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling have to be up there. Every time I think of Schilling I picture with that towel over his head.
