"At the end of the interview Manti told Katie if you have any more questions you can talk to my lawyer... and then he pointed to a wind chime."

Just heard a clip of the interview...
Couric: why did you talk to her so much, even to the point of sleeping with the phone on?
Te'o: it goes back to what my parents taught me about always being there for someone...
YEA, LIKE IGNORING HER WHEN SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AND YOU WERE IN L.A.

When she's dying or dead all bets are off.

didn't he also say that the reason he didn't try to visit her was because he didn't want to tell his parents he missed his flight to do it (let's ignore the fact that he apparently didn't bother to plan a layover into the flight through or let his parents know about her "being in the hospital")
too many holes, too many lies, they have him tripping over his own story

This has been a PR nightmare from Te'o's side

Coming out and saying that he's gay and this was all a big coverup would probably save his skin somewhat, since most gay people tend to do this before coming out. Just do a sob story about the toughness on being a gay football player, and he will probably look slightly better as a result.
He'll do this, AFTER getting drafted into the NFL and bombing hard. That way he gets remembered as that first "high profile" player that came out and even if he gets held out of playing cause he sucks, everyone will make him the victim. Dude is all about attention.

I can see that. He'll get his first contract, underperform, retire, come out, write a book, sell his movie rights and get some type of endorsement deal.
Problem is that he cannot speak. He sounds dumb. That'll have to change if he wants to pursue something public after football.

If he's smart, he'll put himself on a gag order until after he gets drafted, then come out afterwards. With LGBT revolution going on right now, any team that cuts a gay guy that just came out will get persecuted by the media.
The coach would basically have to come across as a douche and say something like "we didn't cut Manti because he was gay, we cut him because he sucked."
a la this

3rd page?
The story is dead.

About 130 pages back I said that he'd keep quiet momentarily. Let things cool off a tad while formulating your story. After a few days, do a one on one interview giving HIS side of the story with every answer and detail coached and massaged into the most favorable light.
Since nothing is going to court over this, his interview would serve as the last real big "news" to come out. Official phone and credit card records will never see the light of day, so the real concrete evidence will never come out to confirm or refute Te'o's version. ESPN and the love the "victim" angle because it allows them to save a minimal amount of face. Then the story dies, at least until draft time.

I heard on the radio that RT will be on the Thursday and Friday editions of Dr Phil giving his side/falling on the sword for his lover.

In an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw that will air Thursday, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo says the voice of Manti Te'o girlfriend Lennay Kekua was his and that the star Notre Dame linebacker had no role in the hoax.
quote:
McGraw said Tuiasosopo told him he fell deeply in love with Te'o and that for Tuiasosopo it was a romantic relationship.
quote:
"Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love," McGraw told NBC. "I asked him straight up, 'Was this a romantic relationship with you?' And he says yes. I said, 'Are you then therefore gay?' And he said, 'When you put it that way, yes.' And then he caught himself and said, 'I am confused.' "
