Y'all are so negative about the outlook of next season. Why can't we have another run like 2011? Allow me to explain...

In 2011 we had a hard schedule just like 2013
2011- we had a very young defense... Montgomery, mingo, mathieu, Simon, Reid were all sophomores. So why can't a young defense step up and dominate in 2013?

Offense- stable of RBs, talented WRs, and an experienced QB. (Just like 2011)

I think LSU will be fine next year and surprise all you negatigers... 11-1

ETA: exclude the championship game

Personnel doesn't concern me nearly as much as scheme. The play-calling this year was putrid and negated any advantage we had on the field talent-wise. See the game vs Clemson. No way LSU should have lost that game.

Hire an OC and we could win it all in 2013. Fail to change, we are doomed to repeat 2012.

The more I think about next year the better I start feeling. This defense will have a sick back 7. The LBs will always be good under Chavis and we have more overall talent there than we've ever had. The secondary will be very good. Jalen Mills was our best cover corner last year as a true FR. Jalen Collins showed some good cover skills in his limited action. Loston showed a ton of improvement last year and Martin/Thompson/Eugene will be more than fine opposite Loston. Throw in some of these stud FR like White & Robinson and potentially Willis and Goodman and, well, DBU lives on. The big question is DL and we've more than proven that we know how to find talent there. I don't think the defense will see as much of a drop off as most are predicting.

Sue me, I'm a sunshine pumper.

With our talent, depth, and defense, 2011 could happen again any year. It's just a matter of our offense being able to produce consistently for the entire season. Which it hasn't in a long while.

Good post.

The only thing this team needs that '11 had and '12 didn't is a Rueben Randle type deep threat.

Once we find that, there is no ceiling for this team, even with the losses on D.

Probably won't make it to campus, hence the offer to Kevin Spears. Dural and hopefully Avery will make an immediate impact. Dural was all the rage over the summer last year. He's our stretch the field guy when healthy. Avery could be that legit possession WR we've been needing too. A line up of Dural, AJ, Landry, OBJ is quite frightening for defenses if we can figure out how to use them all properly.

Yeah Dural is who I had in mind. He's the key.

Even if Leslie makes it in, it won't be until fall, so likely won't have the instant impact we'll need.

If he could have been EE and made it for Spring that would have been huge.

Many people fail to realize if you don't execute the play on the field, the called play will of course look horrible. The play calling was fine in all 3 losses. The execution, or lack thereof was the issue.

If it's Mett making a bad throw, the OL getting dominated by the DL and blitzes, dropped catches (one LSU's biggest issue the first 6-7 games) LSU's young players failed to execute.

but you guys are right.....Fire miles! get a new OC! Rivers Rivers Rivers!!! bring back Andrew Hatch!!!! Can I play instead I'll do so much better!

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. The offensive playcalling was pedestrian and unimaginative. Opposing defenses knew what we were gonna do as soon as we lined up. When that happens, we have no margin for error and the play must be run perfectly for it have even a slim change of succeeding. Miles needs to wise up and realize that the crappy schemes we run are the problem, and the lack of execution and sloppy play (which is also correctable with proper coaching) are just gravy.
